Buckinghamshire - Multiple Temporary Footpath & Road Closures

BUCKINGHAMSHIRE COUNCIL

The Buckinghamshire Council (Public Footpath between Public Footpath No. 81 and North Mill Lane, Parish of Bledlow-cum-Saunderton) Definitive Map Modification Order 2023 made on 14 June 2023, under Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 was confirmed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on 19 May 2026. The effect of the Order, as confirmed without modification, is to modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding to them a length of public footpath from SP76838-04450 SE for 56m to SP76872-04406 as shown by a bold broken line on the Order map with a width of 3m throughout and a field gate at SP76838-04450. The Order became operative on 19 May 2026 and if any person aggrieved by the Order desires to question the validity of the Order on the ground that it is not within the powers of Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or that any of the requirements of Schedule 15 of the Act have not been complied with in relation to it, he or she may, within six weeks from 31 July 2026, make an application to the High Court under paragraph 12 of the said Schedule 15.

THE COUNCIL INTENDS TO MAKE

(Public Footpath No. 41A/1 & Public Bridleway No's 42/1 & 42/2, Parish of Princes Risborough) (Temporary Footpath & Bridleway Closure) Order 2026 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will temporarily prohibit any person from proceeding, except for access, in that length of Public Footpath & Bridleways commencing at the junction of ORR/BW/42/1 and Longwick Road and continuing south to the junction of PRR/BW/42/2 and Leo Crescent. At the junction of PRR/BW/42/1, PRR/BW/42/2 & PRR/FP/41A/1 the path will continue over the railway line for approximately 30 metres. Alternative route is via existing highway. The closure is required to resurface the path in the interest of public safety. The Order will come into operation on 10 August 2026, as signed, with a maximum duration of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the soonest.

(Unmetalled Unclassified County Road No. U267, Hawridge Lane, Chesham) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order 2026 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will temporarily prohibit any persons from proceeding, except for access, in that length of Hawridge Lane, Cholesbury, Unmetalled Unclassified County Road No. U267, from 14/08/2026 to 14/02/2026. The closure is required in the interest of public safety due to erosion. The alternative route is via existing highway. The proposed Order will come into operation on 14 August 2026, as signed, with a maximum duration of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the soonest. Penalties for not observing these restrictions will be as prescribed by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Road Traffic Act 1991.

(Public Footpath No. 30/1, Parish of Aylesbury) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will temporarily prohibit any person from proceeding, except for access, in that length of Public Footpath over the Highbridge Walk Footbridge. The closure is required to enable cleaning of the foul drainage system underneath Bear Bridge. The Order will come into operation on 10 August 2026, as signed, with a maximum duration of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the soonest.
