THE LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(WEST LANCASHIRE SUMMER TRIATHLON AND MULTISPORT EVENT, WESTHEAD, LATHOM, WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
WHEREAS The Lancashire County Council (hereinafter referred to as “the County Council”) being the Traffic Authority for the various roads in West Lancashire, as set out below, are satisfied that traffic on the said roads should be prohibited by reason of enabling the West Lancashire Summer Triathlon and Multisport event to be held
NOW THEREFORE the County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, HEREBY makes the following Order:
1. No person shall cause any vehicle or cycle (apart from those participating in the Triathlon) to proceed over the following lengths of highway, in the Borough of West Lancashire, as set out below:
i. School Lane, from its junction with Vicarage Lane to its junction with Whiteleys Lane
ii. Ruff Lane, from its junction with Vicarage Lane to its junction with Scarth Hill Lane
iii. Whiteleys Lane from its junction with Scarth Hill Lane to its junction with A577 Wigan Road (Lathom)
iv. Vicarage Lane in a Northeast and Easterly direction from its junction with Ruff Lane to its junction with School Lane
v. Ruff Lane in a South Easterly direction from its junction with Beech Meadow to its junction with Vicarage Lane
vi. Scarth Hill Lane from its junction with Whiteleys Lane to its junction with A570 St Helens Road (Ormskirk)
2. The prohibition will be operative from 0700 hours until 1430 hours on Sunday 23rd August 2026 or sooner if the event finishes earlier.
This Order may be cited as "The Lancashire County Council (WEST LANCASHIRE SUMMER TRIATHLON AND MULTISPORT EVENT, WESTHEAD, LATHOM, WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order 2026"
