What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF BLACKPOOL

(ASHFIELD ROAD) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Blackpool Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers to allow for new water main in the carriageway. The effect of the Order will be to:

(a)   Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Snowhill Crescent at its northern junction with Ashfield Road from its junction with Ashfield Road to a point on Snowhill Crescent which is approximately 5 metres east of its junction with Ashfield Road.

(b)   Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Snowhill Crescent from its southern junction with Ashfield Road from its junction with Ashfield Road to a point on Snowhill Crescent which is approximately 5 metres east of its junction with Ashfield Road.

(c)    Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of All Saints Road from its junction with Ashfield Road to a point on All Saints Road which is approximately 5 metres west of its junction with Ashfield Road.

(d)    Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Glenfield Road from its junction with Ashfield Road to a point on Glenfield Road which is approximately 5 metres west of its junction with Ashfield Road.

(e)    Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Highcroft Avenue from its junction with Ashfield Road to a point on Highcroft Avenue which is approximately 5 metres east of its junction with Ashfield Road.

(f)     Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Fairfax Avenue from its junction with Ashfield Road to a point on Fairfax Avenue which is approximately 5 metres west of its junction with Ashfield Road.

(g)    Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding along the length of the unnamed road to the side of No 172 Ashfield Road from its junction with Ashfield Road to a point on the unnamed road to the side of No 172 Ashfield Road which is approximately 5 metres east of its junction with Ashfield Road.

(h)    Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Hastings Avenue from its junction with Ashfield Road to a point on Hastings Avenue which is approximately 5 metres east of its junction with Ashfield Road.

(i)     Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Staniforth Avenue from its junction with Ashfield Road to a point on Staniforth Avenue which is approximately 5 metres east of its junction with Ashfield Road.

(j)      Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Crofton Avenue from its junction with Ashfield Road to a point on Crofton Avenue which is approximately 5 metres west of its junction with Ashfield Road.

Pedestrian access to premises will be maintained at all times. Vehicular access will be maintained wherever possible. All diversion routes will be clearly signed and maintained on site.

The proposed Order will commence on 24 August 2026 and continue in force for eighteen months or until the sooner completion of the aforesaid works. It is expected that the works will take 194 days.
