(MOVING TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS)
(AMENDMENT 6) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT SOUTHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL made the above Order on 24th July 2026, the effects of which will be:
- To introduce a local buses, cycles and authorised vehicles only restriction (applying at all times) on Above Bar Street and Poundtree Road, from its junction with Civic Centre Road/New Road to its junction with Sussex Road (in place of the existing Pedestrian Zone 8am – 8pm except buses, permit holders and taxis).
- To introduce a prohibition of motor vehicles restriction between Ogle Road and Above Bar Street.
- To remove the:
a. No right turn except buses restriction from Above Bar Street into New Road,
b. Compulsory left turn except buses, cycles and taxis restriction from Above Bar Street into New Road
c. No right turn except buses restriction from Above Bar Street into Civic Centre Road
- To introduce a compulsory ahead only except local buses, cycles and authorised vehicles restriction from Civic Centre Road (eastbound) into New Road.
- To extend the bus lane on New Road, south side, from its junction with Park Walk to its junction with Above Bar Street.
- To amend the banned right turn restriction from West Park Road into Havelock Road, from except buses to except buses and taxis.
This Order will come into operation on 4th August 2026.
Copies of the Order, relevant map and statement of reasons can be viewed on the Councils website: https://transport.southampton.gov.uk/TRO or may be inspected Monday - Friday, 10am - 3pm at Gateway in the Civic Centre, Southampton SO14 7LY.
Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act, or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks from the date of the Order, make application for this purpose to the High Court.
