Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, has made the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan

Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.630) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 13th August 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to revoke no waiting at any time on:

•    Coupland Road, Hindley Green (North East) from a point 27 metres south east of its junction with Wetheral Close for a distance of 105 metres in a north westerly direction.

•    Coupland Road, Hindley Green (South West) from a point 27 metres south west of its junction with Wetheral Close to a point 15 metres north west of its junction with Ormside Close.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time on:

•    Coupland Road, Hindley Green (North East) from a point 100 metres south east of its junction with Wetheral Close for a distance of 105 metres in a north westerly direction.

•    Coupland Road, Hindley Green (South West) from a point 100 metres south west of its junction with Wetheral Close to a point 15 metres north west of its junction with Ormside Close.

A copy of the Order and of the relevant map may be requested by emailing libby.gill@wigan.gov.uk

Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained therein on the ground:

(a)  that it is not within the powers of Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984; or the Traffic Management Act 2004, or

(b)  that any requirement of the said Section 1, or of Part III of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or of any regulations made under the said Part III of Schedule 9 or of any requirement of the 2004 Act, has not been complied with, may within six weeks of 23rd July 2026 make application for the purpose to the High Court.

Queens Road, Ashton In Makerfield – Temporary Closure Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Queens Road, Ashton in Makerfield) (Temporary Closure) Order which will come into operation on 1st September 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Queens Road, Ashton in Makerfield from 1st September 2026 to 15th September 2026. The alternative route for traffic is: Wigan Road – Alexandra Road – The Strand.

The Order is necessary to allow a gas main replacement scheme.
