Empress Road, Southampton - Temporary Road Closure due to Carriageway Repair Works

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Southampton City Council intends to make the above Order.

1. The effect of the Order will be to close Empress Road between Aldi car park and Kingsbury Road, 6pm – 6am.
2. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road. These works are for carriageway repairs.
3. The alternative route will be Empress Road, Horseshoe Bridge, Thomas Lewis Way, Bevois Valley Road, Mount Pleasant Road, Imperial Road.
4. The Order will come into force on 18th August 2026 and has a maximum duration of 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is sooner. It is expected that the works will be completed by 19th August 2026.
