A2 TRUNK ROAD – BARHAM - DOVER TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A2 Trunk Road in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because of the likelihood of danger to the public associated with movements in and out of Lydden Hill Race circuit during Dover traffic management occasions.

The effect of the Order would be to impose 24-hour speed restrictions as follows:-

a) 50 miles per hour on –
i) the coast-bound carriageway of the A2 between a point approximately 1440 metres south of the centreline of Ileden Lane and a point approximately 220 metres south of the centreline of the A260 overbridge, including the roads leading to and from said carriageway at Barham Interchange (A260); and
ii) the London-bound carriageway of the A2 between a point approximately 1780 metres north-west of the centreline of Green Lane underbridge (Whitfield) and a point approximately 125 metres west of the centreline of Coldred Hill Junction; and
b) 40 miles per hour on –
i) the coast-bound carriageway of the A2 between a point approximately 220 metres south of the centreline of the A260 overbridge and a point approximately 25 metres southeast of the centreline of Coxhill junction; and
ii) the London-bound carriageway of the A2 between a point approximately 125 metres west of the centreline of Coldred Hill junction and a point approximately 30 metres west of the centreline of Geddinge Lane junction.

These measures would be in the interests of road safety owing to the danger to the public as advised above. Please see National Highways website for
details of when they would be implemented.

The Order would come into force on 3rd September 2026 (replacing the existing Temporary Notice provision E962) and continue for a maximum of
18 months or until replaced by a Permanent Order, whichever is sooner.

The temporary speed limits would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the danger period.
