What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (BUXTON ROAD AND WINIFRED ROAD, HEAVILEY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF RIGHT TURN) NOTICE 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which introduced a Temporary Prohibition of a Right Turn at Buxton Road, Heaviley - no right turn on to Winifred Road. Winifred Road, Cale Green - no right turn on to Buxton Road whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road.

This Order is necessary to allow for desilting and lining works to take place. It is estimated these works will last 1 night between 20.00pm and 03.00am. The following diversions will be provided:

Diversion 1: Buxton Road, Wellington Road South, Lowfield Road, Shaw Heath, Cale Green, Bramhall Lane, Kennerley Road, and Abergele Street.

Diversion 2: Buxton Road, Kennerley Road, and Abergele Street. This Order will come into operation on 6 August 2026 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
