Essex - Multiple Temporary Road Closures & Clearway Restrictions Due To Various Works

ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

(Lippitts Hill, Loughton) - (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Lippitts Hill, Loughton in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 460m northwest of its junction with Rose Court for a distance of approximately 30m in a north westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st September 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MU093MCW-NL-07347737K – Thames Water Utilities). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pressure pipe installation works are undertaken by Thames Water Utilities.

An alternative route is available via Lippitts Hill, Mott Street, Church Road, Lippitts Hill and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 6th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Nine Ashes Road, High Ongar) - (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Nine Ashes Road, High Ongar in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 290m southwest of its junction with Brookery Road a distance of approximately 40m in a south westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 31st August 2026 for 5 days or where stated on a valid permit (AZ7031001517603 – Cadent Gas). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Cadent Gas.

An alternative route is available via Ongar Road, Blackmore Road, Nine Ashes Road and vice versa (with access only into Nine Ashes Road).

The Order will come into effect on 6th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Roding Road, Loughton) - (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Roding Road, Loughton in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Oakwood Hill to its junction with Stonards Hill for a distance of approximately 100m.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd September 2026 for 1 day or where stated on a valid permit (MU026SA-3123377 – Thames Water Utilities).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while sewer cleaning works are undertaken by Thames Water Utilities.

An alternative route is available via Alderton Hill, Borders Lane, A1168 and vice versa (with access only into Oakwood Hill and Roding Road).

The Order will come into effect on 6th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Toot Hill Road/Colemans Lane, Stanford Rivers) - (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. (Phase 1) To temporarily close that length of Toot Hill Road, Stanford Rivers in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Colemans Lane for a distance of approximately 105m in a north westerly direction.

2. (Phase 2) To temporarily close that length of Toot Hill Road, Stanford Rivers in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Colemans Lane for a distance of approximately 150m in a north easterly direction and that length of Colemans Lane, Stanford Rivers in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Toot Hill Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a south easterly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 17th August 2026 for 12 days in phases or where stated on a valid permit (EC30063955064/EC3002320297 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while electrical works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Toot Hill Road, Greensted Road and vice versa (with access only into Drapers Corner, Toot Hill Road and Colemans Lane).

The Order came into effect on 23rd July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, City of Chelmsford & District of Epping Forest)- (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.7) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close that lengths of roads in the City of Chelmsford & District of Epping Forest as specified in the Schedule to this Order.

2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway as per schedule for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

"The Essex County Council (City of Chelmsford & District of Epping Forest) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 23rd July 2026; exact dates will be specified on One.network.

The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public.

Access will be maintained for emergency services.

Diversion routes will be signed at each location, and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.
