What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984, SECTION 14(1)

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF BURY

(WHITTAKER LANE, PRESTWICH)

TEMPORARY ONE-WAY WORKING ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury have made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicles from proceeding along:-

Whittaker Lane, Prestwich in an easterly direction – between property No.12a to property No.10

The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate Electricity Northwest works

The alternative route will be via Bury Old Road, Scholes Lane, Heywood Road & vice versa

The Order comes into operation on 03/08/2026 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 18 months, although the anticipated duration of the works is 3 days.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury intend in not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicles from proceeding along:-

Vernon Road, Tottington – at its junction with Longsight Road

The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate United Utilities works

The alternate route will be via Vernon Road, Brandlesholme Road, Longsight Road & vice versa

The proposed Order will come into operation on 17/08/2026 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 18 months, although the anticipated duration of the works is approximately 1 week.
