NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Bridgewater Road, Worsley) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Bridgewater Road, Worsley from 18th August 2026 to 31st August 2026.
The alternative route for traffic is: Ellenbrook Road, Newearth Road, East Lancashire Road, Mosley Common Road.
The Order is necessary to allow a new water connection.
Wigan Borough Public Footpath (Tyldesley No. 96, 97, 100, 102, 105 (Part), 106 & 133) – Temporary Closure
Notice of Extension
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has extended the above order.
The effect of the extension will be to prohibit any person, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable, from using:
• Public footpath Tyldesley No. 96 from its junction with Mort Lane from Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371054 402152 in a generally easterly direction to its junction with public footpaths Tyldesley No. 97 & 100 at Point B as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371589 402063 for a distance of approximately 546 metres.
• Public footpath Tyldesley No. 97 from its junction with Tyldesley No. 96 & 100 at Point B as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371589 402063 in a southerly direction to public bridleway Tyldesley No. 98 & 99 at Point C as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371602 402023 for a distance of approximately 45 Metres.
• Public footpath Tyldesley No. 100 from its junction with Tyldesley No. 96 & 97 at Point B as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371589 402063 in an easterly direction to public bridleway Tyldesley No. 102 & 106 at Point D as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371716 402060 for a distance of approximately 137 Metres.
• Public bridleway Tyldesley No. 102 from its junction with Tyldesley No. 100 & 106 at Point D as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371716 402060 in a southerly direction to public bridleway Tyldesley No. 99 & public footpath No. 101 at Point E as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371696 401977 for a distance of approximately 94 Metres.
• Public bridleway Tyldesley No. 106 from its junction with Tyldesley No. 100 & 102 at Point D as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371716 402060 in a northerly direction to public bridleway Tyldesley No. 107 & 108 at Point F as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371732 402121 for a distance of approximately 65 Metres.
• Public footpath Tyldesley No. 105 from its junction with Tyldesley No. 101 & 133 at Point G as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371705 401917 in an easterly direction to Hindsford Brook at Point H as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371924 401894 for a distance of approximately 230 Metres.
• Public footpath Tyldesley No. 133 from its junction with Tyldesley No. 101 & 105 at Point G as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371705 401917 in a southerly direction to public footpath Tyldesley No. 103 & 134 at Point I as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371720 401861 for a distance of approximately 60 Metres.
Until 13th February 2027 or until the completion of the works, whichever occurs sooner.
An alternative route is available via the road network and public rights of way; Mort Lane, Sale Lane, public bridleway along the Leigh Guided Busway and City Road, as shown on the Order Map.
The Order is necessary to safeguard the public from the development of the site.
Wigan Borough Public Footpath (Leigh No. 200 (Part)) (Temporary Diversion) Order 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough Public Footpath (Leigh No.200 (Part)) (Temporary Diversion) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 3rd August 2026.
The effect of the Order means that no person shall, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable use:
Public footpath Leigh No. 200 from Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 366386 398948, to Point B at its junction where the footpath continues as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 366202 398898, for a distance of approximately 192 metres in a north westerly direction.
An alternative route is available from Point A to Point B as shown on the Order Map via the public rights of way network; Leigh No. 200, 204, 225 and 205, for a distance of approximately 1,121 metres. A shorter alternative may be available by permissive paths on site.
This public footpath will be closed for a period of six months commencing on 3rd August 2026 to safeguard the public whilst works are carried out to United Utilities boundary fence at the Leigh/Hope Carr Wastewater Treatment Works.
Wigan Borough Public Footpath (Leigh No. 154 (Part)) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough Public Footpath (Leigh No.154 (Part)) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 28th July 2026.
The effect of the Order means that no person shall, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable use:
Footpath Leigh No.154 from its junction with Firs Lane at Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 364761 400256, south then southwest to Point B at its junction with the canal towpath as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 364527 399839 for a distance of approximately 514 metres.
Please note there is no alternative route available.
This public footpath will be closed for a period of six months commencing on 28th July 2026 to allow for road surfacing and agreed completion works plus further earthworks and remediation of site, and to safeguard the public.
