Cumberland - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U2107 WHITRIGG, U2761 CROSBY STREET, MARYPORT AND C2016 PAPCASTLE ROAD, PAPCASTLE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
1. U2107 Whitrigg, from a point approx. 650 metres southeast of its junction with the U2106 at Stangerhill, Whitrigg extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 200m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U2107, U2106, Torpenhow, U2103 and C2011 Ireby.
Duration: From 19 August 2026 for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTROC/19260)
2. U2761 Crosby Street, Maryport, from its junction with Wood Street, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 20m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Crosby Street, Kirkby Street, High Street and Wood Street.
Duration: From 26 August 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/19123)
3. C2016 Papcastle Road, Papcastle, from its junction with the entrance to the property known as Grey Abbey, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 60m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2016 Papcastle Road, the U2282, Drovers Lane and A5086 Gote Brow.
Duration: From 27 August 2026 for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTROC/19262)
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 19 August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
