York - Multiple Traffic Restrictions Due To Various Works

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), on Thursday, 30 July 2026 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8) & (9). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (10), (11), (12), (13) & (14).

(1) EASTFIELD LANE, DUNNINGTON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Eastfield Lane, Dunnington between the projected north-eastern boundary of property No. 65 and a point 76 metres north-east of said boundary (closed roads) during the period when drainage mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0730hrs on Monday, 03 August 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 11 September 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Eastfield Lane, Stamford Bridge Road, Church Balk. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(2) WATER LANE, DUNNINGTON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Water Lane, Dunnington between its junctions with Common Road and Westwood Mews (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Monday, 03 August 2026 and ending at 1600hrs on Tuesday, 04 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0900hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Common Road, The Green, Water Lane. Resident access may be arranged by speaking with site traffic management operatives, who will co-ordinate with residents’ requirements around the ongoing construction operations. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout.

(3) BISHOPTHORPE ROAD & EBOR STREET, YORK

This Order prohibits pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footway on Bishopthorpe Road and Ebor Street, York (i) on both sides of Bishopthorpe Road between the projected north-eastern boundaries of property No’s. 22 and 28 and (ii) on both sides of Ebor Street between its junction with Bishopthorpe Road and the projected western boundary of property No. 7 (closed footway) during the period when traffic signal renewal works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Monday, 03 August 2026 and ending at 1900hrs on Saturday, 15 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the footway will be closed between 0900hrs and 1900hrs Monday to Friday and between 0900hrs and 1700hrs Saturday and Sunday during the works period. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will not be signed during the works period. Resident access will be maintained throughout. Additionally, all ‘on-street’ parking places situated on the North side of Scarcroft Road between its junctions with Nunthorpe Road and Russell Street will be suspended during the works period. (4) YEARSLEY GROVE & WHENBY GROVE, HUNTINGTON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Yearsley Grove and Whenby Grove, York (i) on Yearsley Grove between its junctions with Huntington Road and Yearsley Grove School and (ii) on Whenby Grove between its junctions with Yearsley Grove School and Anthea Drive to Whenby Grove (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Tuesday, 04 August 2026 and ending at 1600hrs on Wednesday, 05 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the roads will be closed between 0900hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Huntington Road, Highthorn Road, New Lane, Geldof Road, Skewsby Grove. Specific resident access may be arranged by speaking to the site traffic management operatives, who will co-ordinate with residents’ requirements around the ongoing construction operations. Emergency access will be maintained throughout.

(5) BIRKDALE GROVE, ACOMB

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Birkdale Grove, Acomb between the projected south-western boundaries of property No’s. 8 & 10 (closed roads) during the period when fuse upgrade works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 04 August 2026 and ending at 1800hrs on Monday, 10 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(6) WEST BANK, ACOMB

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on West Bank, Acomb between the northern boundaries of property No’s. 21 & 27 (closed roads) during the period when fuse upgrade works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 04 August 2026 and ending at 1800hrs on Wednesday, 12 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(7) WHEATFIELD LANE, HAXBY

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Wheatfield Lane, Haxby (i) on Wheatfield Lane between its junctions with Eastfield Avenue and Greenshaw Drive, (ii) on Greenshaw Drive between its junctions with Parkland Way and Cherry Paddock, (iii) on Green Dike between its junction with Wheatfield Lane and the projected north-western boundary of property No. 9 and (iv) on Eastfield Avenue between its junction with Wheatfield Lane and the projected south-western boundary of property No. 140 (closed roads) during the period when gas mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Wednesday, 05 August 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 14 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the roads will be closed between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Greenshaw Drive, Oak Tree Lane, Eastfield Avenue, Westfield Lane, Green Dike. Access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(8) PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY 29/10/10 (CONTINUATION), NEW EARSWICK

This Order continues in force The New Earswick (Public Right of Way 29/10/10) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2026 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue the prohibition on pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Public Right of Way 29/10/10, New Earswick (closed footpath) during the period commencing at 0001 hours on Friday, 31 July 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 29 January 2027 (danger period). This is to ensure the safety of route users. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will not be signed during the danger period.

(9) PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY NO. 14/12/10 & KERVER LANE (CONTINUATION), DUNNINGTON

This Order continues in force The Dunnington (public right of way 14/12/10) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2026 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue the prohibition on pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of public right of way on public right of way 14/12/10, Dunnington between its junctions with Petercroft Lane and Eastfield Lane (closed public right of way) during the period commencing at 0730 hours on Saturday, 01 August 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 07 August 2026 (works period) or on a date when drainage works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Kerver Lane, Dunnington, between the projected north-western boundary of property No. 59 and a point 28 metres north-west of said boundary (closed road). It is envisaged that the road and footpath will be closed between 0730hrs and 1700hrs Monday to Saturday during the works period. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works period via Kerver Lane, Intake Lane, Horsfield Way, Holly Tree Lane, Eastfield Lane. Additionally, access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period on Kerver Lane.

(10) A19, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on A19, York between its roundabout controlled junction with St Nicholas Avenue to the south-western boundary of Property known as Church Cottage, York Road, Deighton (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Monday, 10 August 2026 and ending at 0600hrs on Tuesday, 25 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed between 2000hrs and 0600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via A19, A63, A162, A64. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(11) MOOR LANE, BISHOPTHORPE

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Moor Lane, Bishopthorpe between its junction with Moor Lane Drive and a point 50 metres north-east of said junction (closed roads) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 11 August 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 14 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(12) HARCOURT CLOSE, BISHOPTHORPE

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Harcourt Close, Bishopthorpe between the projected northern boundaries of property No’s. 17 and 19 (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Wednesday, 12 August 2026 and ending at 1530hrs on Thursday, 13 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed between 0930hrs and 1530hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(13) LEEMAN ROAD, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Leeman Road, York between its junction with Station Avenue and a point 13 metres north-west of said junction (closed roads) during the period when utility installation works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Wednesday, 12 August 2026 and ending at 0600hrs on Monday, 24 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed between 2000hrs and 0600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Station Avenue, Station Road, Station Rise. Access for pedestrians, cyclists and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

(14) WILSTROP FARM ROAD, COPMANTHORPE

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Wilstrop Farm Road, Copmanthorpe between the north-western boundaries of property No’s. 1 and 17 (closed roads) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Thursday, 13 August 2026 and ending at 1530hrs on Friday, 14 August 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed between 0930hrs and 1530hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
