What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL

(U2497 ELLERBECK LANE, WORKINGTON, U2173 DOVEBY AND A5086 LAMPLUGH ROAD, COCKERMOUTH)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intend to make an Order the effect of which is to:

  1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

a) U2497 Ellerbeck Lane, Workington, from a point adjacent to No.31 Ellerbeck Lane, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 400m.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

Duration: From 19 August 2026 for approx. 3 days between 0800 and 1800 hours, each day (Ref: TTROC/1290)

b) U2173 Doveby, from a point adjacent to the property known at Laura Cottage, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 60m.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

Duration: From 1 September 2026 for approx. 4 days between 0800 and 1800 hours, each day (Ref: TTROC/19408)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

  1. Prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time, on any day and/or from loading and unloading, at any time, on any day (including blue badge holders) along that section of the A5086 Lamplugh Road, Cockermouth, (northwest side) from its junction with Brigham Road, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 50m.

Duration: From 20 August 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/1292)

The Order will come into operation on 19 August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
