What is happening?
KIRKLEES COUNCIL
(TRAFFIC REGULATION) (CONSOLIDATION ORDER PROVIDING ON-STREET PARKING PLACES, WAITING, LOADING AND STOPPING RESTRICTIONS AND
MIGRATION TO A ‘MAP-BASED’ FORMAT) ORDER 2024 (AMENDMENT NO. 09) ORDER 2024
HALIFAX ROAD, BIRCHENCLIFFE HILL ROAD, BIRCHINGTON AVENUE, BIRKBY ROAD, EAST STREET, YEW TREE ROAD, HUDDERSFIELD
The Council of the Borough of Kirklees have made the above Order under their powers in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which, as it affects lengths of road in the Huddersfield area of the Kirklees district, will be to:
(i) Prohibit the waiting of vehicles at any time on lengths of the following roads:-
1. Halifax Road
2. Birchencliffe Hill Road
3. Birchington Avenue
4. Birkby Road
5. East Street
6. Yew Tree Road
(ii) Prohibit the loading and unloading of of vehicles between the hours of 05:00 – 11:00 & 15:00 – 20:00 (on all days except bank holidays) on a length of Halifax Road
(iii) Prohibit the waiting or loading and unloading of vehicles at any time on lengths of the following roads:-
1. Halifax Road
2. Birchencliffe Hill Road
3. Birkby Road
(iv) Introduce permit holder parking places on lengths of Halifax Road
(v) Revoke existing No Waiting at Any Time restrictions on a length of East Street
(vi) Modify existing No Waiting at Any Time restrictions on a length of East Street
This Order was made on 21 July 2026 and will take effect on 31 July 2026.

Any person wishing to challenge the Order on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirements of that, or of any instrument made under it, have not been complied with may apply to the High Court within six weeks following 31 July 2026.
