What is happening?

(Bridleway 36, Clavering)

(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

Effect of the order: To temporary close Bridleway 36, Clavering in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Langley Road to its junction with Cock Lane approximately 931 metres, the entire length.

Diversion route: Langley Road, Mills Road, Cock Lane and vice versa.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 01 August 2026 to 01 November 2026 where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public to allow stream bank revetment works to be carried out.

The Order will come into effect on 01 August 2026 may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Arkesden Road, Wendens Ambo)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Arkesden Road, Wendens Ambo in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 20m south of its junction with Royston Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a southerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 14th August 2026 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGSM0L5V – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement and cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Arkesden Road, Wenden Road, Church Hill, Clatterbury Lane, Lower Road, Plantation Hill, Mills Road, Langley Road, Langley Lower Green, Park Lane, Bull Lane, Cogmore, School Lane, Upper Pond Street, Lower Pond Street, B1039 and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 23rd July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Mills Road, Clavering)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mills Road, Clavering in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Cock Lane to its junction with Mill Lane a distance of approximately 865m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th August 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2408383 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Plantation Hill, Lower Road, B1038, Stickling Green, Mill Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 6th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Valance Road, Clavering/Upper Green Road, Langley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Valance Road, Clavering/Upper Green Road, Langley in the District of Uttlesford, from the junction with Cogmore to the junction with Langley Road a distance of approximately 3020m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 25th August 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2408504/EP20153095430/EP20153095429 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Langley Road, Langley Lower Green, Park Lane, Bull Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 6th August 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Hampit Road/Main Street/Clatterbury Lane, Church Hill & Wicken Road, Arkesden)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Hampit Road/Main Street/Clatterbury Lane, Arkesden in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 1315m south west then south east of the junction with Newland End Lane for a distance approximately 410m in a south easterly then south westerly direction.
  2. To temporarily close that length of Church Hill, Arkesden in the District of Uttlesford, from both of its junctions with Hampit Road/Main Street for a distance of approximately 120m north easterly then north westerly direction.
  3. To temporarily close that length of Wicken Road, Arkesden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Main Street/Clatterbury Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 8th August 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WGQW8G9Z07SB/Z05SB/Z09SB/Z06SB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while cabling and jointing works are undertaken by Openreach.

Alternative routes are available via:

  1. Hampit Road, Bridge Green Road, Duddenhoe End Road, Beards Lane, Coopers End Road, Bridge Green Road, B1039, Cogmore, School Lane, Langley Road, Cogmore, Upper Green Road, Valance Road, Langley Road, Mills Road, Plantation Hill, Lower Road, B1038, Arkesden Road, Clatterbury Lane and vice versa.
  2. Church Hill, Quicksie Hill, Wenden Road, Arkesden Road, B1039, Bridge Green Road, Elmdon, Coopers End Road, Beards Lane, Duddenhoe End Road, Bridge Green Road, Hampit Road and vice versa.
  3. Wicken Road, Poore Street, B1038, Arkesden Road, Clatterbury Lane and vice versa.

(Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) (Grove Hill, Thaxted)

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Park Street, Thaxted in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 210m south west then south of its junction with Mill End for a distance of 25m in a south westerly direction.
  2. To temporarily suspend the 7.5 tonne weight restriction in that length of Grove Hill, Thaxted as cited in “The Essex County Council (B1051 Grove Hill, Stansted Mountfitchet) (Weight Restriction) Order 1987” for the duration of the above closure only.

The closure/suspension is scheduled to commence on 8th August 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410320090 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/suspension is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains repair works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

Alternative routes are available via:

  1. B184, B1256, A120, B1383 and vice versa.
  2. B1351, B1383.

The Order came into effect on 30th July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Valance Road, Clavering in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Langley Road for a distance of 80m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th August 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGSP131C – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Valance Road, Bull Lane, Langley Lower Green, Langley Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 23rd July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
