2. THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (PARISHES OF NORTH WILTSHIRE) (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING, TAXI RANK CLEARWAYS AND ON STREET PARKING) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2024 (AMENDMENT NO.3) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that on 22 July 2026 Wiltshire Council made the above mentioned Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 the effect of which is as follows:
Order 1 – To revoke the Royal Wootton Bassett Consolidation Order 2016 (with Amendment Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4), to re-enact it in the above Order 1 and to include additional restrictions the effect of which will be to introduce No Waiting at any time on the following lengths of roads in Royal Wootton Bassett:
Clarendon Drive – south east side – i) from a point 34 metres west of its junction with Washbourne Road to a point 18 metres north east of that junction ii) from a point 17 metres west of its junction with Eastwood Avenue to a point 20 metres north east of that junction;
Downs View – south east side – from a point 32 metres north east of its junction with Tanners Close to a point 39 metres north east of that junction;
Eastwood Avenue – south west side – from its junction with Clarendon Drive to a point 21 metres south east of that junction;
Eastwood Avenue – north east side – from its junction with Clarendon Drive to a point 78 metres south east of that junction;
Noremarsh Road – north west side – from a point 14 metres south west of its junction with Washbourne Road to a point 14 metres north east of that junction;
Parsons Way – both sides – from its junction with Washbourne Road to a point 11 metres north east of that junction;
Queens Road – north west side – from a point 16 metres south west of its junction with The Rosary to a point 20 metres north east of that junction;
The Rosary – both sides – from its junction with Queens Road to a point 15 metres north west of that junction;
The Rosary – south west side – i) from a point 16 metres south east of its junction with The Rosary (spur to Tinkers Field) to a point 17 metres north west of that junction ii) from its junction with The Rosary (spur to St Bartholomew's Primary School) to a point 9 metres south east of that junction;
The Rosary – north east side – i) from its junction with The Rosary (spur to St Bartholomew's Primary School) to a point 17 metres south east of that junction ii) from a point 10 metres south east of its junction with The Rosary (spur to Tinkers Field) to a point 10 metres north west of that junction;
The Rosary (spur to St Bartholomew's Primary School) – north west side – i) from the boundary line of property Nos. 68 and 69 The Rosary to a point 18.5 metres north east of that point ii) from a point 24 metres north east of the boundary line of property Nos. 68 and 69 The Rosary to a point 29 metres north east of that point iii) from a point 36 metres north east of the boundary line of property Nos. 68 and 69 The Rosary to a point 48 metres north east of that point;
The Rosary (spur to St Bartholomew's Primary School) – south east side – i) from a point 8 metres south west of its junction with The Rosary to a point 14 metres north east of that junction ii) from a point 33 metres north east of its junction with The Rosary to a point 38 metres north east of that junction;
Washbourne Road – both sides – from its junction with Clarendon Drive to a point 15 metres south east of that junction;
Washbourne Road – both sides – from its junction with Noremarsh Road to a point 14 metres north west of that junction.
Order 2 – To amend the Parishes of North Wiltshire Consolidation Order 2024 by introducing new Map Schedule No. AU73 dated 3 August 2026 the effect of which will be to introduce No Waiting at any time on the following lengths of roads in Purton:
Widham – east side – from its junction with C414 Cricklade Road to a point 20 metres south of the southern property boundary of No.15 Widham;
Widham – west side – from the southern property boundary of No.15 Widham to a point 20 metres in a southerly direction.

Any person aggrieved by the Orders and desiring to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in the Orders on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant Section made above Act or on the grounds that any requirement of that Section or of Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act or any regulation made under the said Schedule, has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
The Orders will come into operation on 3 August 2026.
SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make an Order to close temporarily to all users:
A) Footpath 8 (Part), Urchfont; from its junction with Footpath 5, Stert for a distance of approximately 35m in a southerly direction.
B) Footpath 5 (Part), Stert; from its junction with Footpath 8, Urchfont for a distance of approximately 40m in a northerly direction to enable Crossing upgrade to allow for safer use of the crossing. This will include new approaches, steps and signage. Alternative route Footpath 8, Urchfont (unaffected length) – Footpath 1, Urchfont – Footpath 7, Urchfont – Footpath 12, Stert – Bridleway 7, Stert – Footpath 5, Stert (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 22 August 2026 and it is anticipated that the closure will be required until 19 September 2026. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all users:
B) Footpath 18 (Part), Calne; from its junction with Station Road for a distance of approximately 23m in a westerly direction to enable path repairs. Alternative route via existing adjacent paths. This Order which was due to expire on 01 August 2026 will now continue in force until 01 February 2027 or until completion of the works, whichever is earlier. C) Footpath 4 (Part), Lyneham and Bradenstoke; from its junction with A3102 to its junction with Pound Close.

Alternative route via existing highways and rights of way. This Order which previously came into operation on 25 May 2026 will now recommence on 03 August 2026 and the closure will be required until 11 August 2026. A) C38 (Part), West Overton; from its property known as Castle Cottage for a distance of approximately 90m in a north westerly direction to enable Thames Water to carry out infiltration, sewer lining works and other associated works. Alternative route via C38 (unaffected length) – C73 – A4 – C38 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 24 August 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 19:00 and 07:00 until 28 August 2026. This Order will come into operation on 27 August 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 for 1 night. D) A345 (Part), Upavon; from a point approximately 100m north of its junction with A342 for a distance of approximately 140m in a northerly direction to enable Wessex Water Services to carry out works to complete a CCTV survey and cleaning of the sewer. AD) C85 (Part), Oaksey; from its junction with Bendy Bow for a distance of approximately 60m in an easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out sewer repair work and other associated works. Alternative route via C85 (unaffected length) – C90 – C76 – A429 – C85 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order which previously came into operation on 16 March 2026 will now recommence on 03 August 2026 and the closure will be required until 14 August 2026. Orders A) to AC) will have a maximum duration of 18 months, Order AD) has a maximum duration of 18 months.
The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.
It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.
