(HILL STREET, WOOD STREET, REAR 2 TO 20 WOOD STREET, WALTER STREET, ARTHUR STREET, BRIERFIELD, PENDLE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over those lengths of
i. Hill Street, Brierfield from its junction with Primrose Street to its junction with Gable End 15 Halifax Road to Rear 16 Hill Street.
ii. Wood Street, Brierfield from its junction with Union Street to outside 6 to 8 Wood Street.
iii. Rear 2 to 20 Wood Street, Brierfield from its junction with Walter Street to the rear of 6 to 8 Wood Street
iv. Walter Street, Brierfield from its junction with Halifax Road to its junction with High Street.
v. Arthur Street, Brierfield from its junction with Halifax Street to its junction with Rear 8 to 62 Halifax Road.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0730 hours on Monday 10th August 2026 until 1630 hours on Monday 30th November 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. Works are weather dependent and may be carried out on any of the dates specified.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Emergency services access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. A diversion will be signed locally.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow carriageway and footway improvements.
