TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026

Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all vehicular, horse, pedestrian and cycle traffic from the A690 Durham Road from its junction with Springwell Road to its junction with Barnes Park Road. The Order is required to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works. The order will come into force on 13th September 2026. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be eighteen months. However, the works are expected to be completed over a period of five consecutive Sundays. The closures will be in effect until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. Alternative routes will be provided: Eastbound along B1405 Springwell Road, A183 Chester Road and C512 Barnes Park Road; and Westbound along Silksworth Lane and B1405 Premier Road.
