Temporary Road Closure due to Gas Main Replacement Works

Order 2026

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road.

Eyre Street a 7 metre length to the side of No.144 & 146 Park Road;

Rydal Avenue an 8 metre length to the side of South Moor Methodist Church and No. 207 Park Road;

Pine Street a 23 metre length to the side of The Haven Community Centre and front of No. 1-2 Pine Street;

Poplar Street Rear a 6 metre length from the junction with Park Road to the rear of No. 1 Pine Street and No. 1 Poplar Street;

Wansbeck Avenue a 30 metre length to the side of No. 8 & 9 Tyne Road East to enable gas main replacement works to be undertaken.

Throughout the period of the closure, any diversion to vehicular traffic will be signposted on site. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The works are required from 8am on Monday 17/8/2026 and for the duration of the works anticipated to be 6 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
