(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that because of the likelihood of danger to the public, due to the dangerous condition of a building Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians) or to proceed along that section of the U5523 Chapel Stile from a point approx. 140 metres south of its junction with the B5343 extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 40 metres. A suitable alternative route for vehicles and dismounted cyclists will be available via the unrestricted sections of the U5523, and the B4353.
This follows two emergency notices dated 23 June 2026 and 14 July 2026.

The Order will come into operation on 4 August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
