Temporary Closure of Public Bridleway S37/1, Portesham
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along public bridleway S37/1, from grid reference SY 60363 86074 to grid reference SY 60991 86681, a distance of approximately 1000 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
It will come into operation on 03 August 2026 for a period of 26 weeks. This Order can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
The Order is required to allow Wessex Water to carry out site improvement works at Portesham Water treatment Plant.
The alternative route will be from SY 60363 86074 head south along Portesham Hill and Front Street to SY 60293 85867, the junction with Winter's Lane, a distance of 230 metres. From SY 60293 85867 head east along Winter's Lane to SY 60823 85791 the junction with bridleway S37/5 a distance of 540 metres. From SY 60823 85791 follow the bridleway generally northeast and then north to SY 60991 86681 a distance of 1150 metres.

Temporary Closure of Various Roads, Crossways
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Various Roads, Crossways as listed: [i] Redbridge Road, Crossways from junction with B3390 Warmwell Road, Crossways to junction with Old Weymouth Road, Moreton; [ii] Redbridge Road, Winfrith Newburgh from junction with Old Weymouth Road, Moreton to a point approximately 750 metres to the south; [iii] Old Weymouth Road, Moreton from junction with Redbridge Road to a point 70 metres to the north of Sheepwalk, Moreton. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 17th August 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months. However it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 28th August 2026.
This Order will provide Wessex Internet to install fibre infrastructure.
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed section.

Temporary Closure of B3159, Winterbourne Steepleton
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along B3159, WINTERBOURNE STEEPLETON, between its junction with A35 and its junction with Coombe Road, a distance of approximately 195 metres.
The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 03 August 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 14 August 2026.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out work following bank erosion from landslip.
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Dorset Council (Moving Traffic Regulations) (Map Based) (No.*) (Wanchard Lane, Charminster) Order 202*
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of Dorset proposes to make the above-mentioned Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce a ‘no entry’ on part of Wanchard Lane, Charminster, for vehicles travelling west to east.

The Dorset Council (Waiting, Loading, Stopping and Parking Places) (Map Based) (Various Roads, Weymouth) (Experimental No. 1) Order 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Dorset Council Traffic Manager, in exercise of the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police hereby modifies the Experimental Traffic Regulation Order named above.
The Dorset Council (Waiting, Loading, Stopping and Parking Places) (Map Based) (Various Roads, Weymouth) (Experimental No. 1) Order 2025 is modified as follows:
• Revert the “goods vehicles only” loading bay opposite Londis, Westham Road back to a “loading bay”
The modification to the Order will come into operation on 31st July 2026 and will remain in force for the duration of the Experimental Order. The Order can continue in force for a maximum of 18 months.
Within a period of 6 months from the coming into operation of the Order, or within 6 months of any subsequent variation or modification to the Order coming into force, whichever may be the later, any person may object to the making of a permanent order.
