Order 2026
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular and pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following length of road and footbridge. A 45 metre length of Broadgate Ford and associated footbridge between the accesses to Ragpath Cottage and the access to Broadgate Farm, Deerness Valley to enable ford repairs and footbridge re-painting works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the northern side of the closure from Unclassified road 18.23 north to B6302 Cockhouse Lane, then east to Ushaw Moor, South on C18 and C154 to New Brancepeth and westerly onto Unclassified road 18.23 leading to the southern side of the closure and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are to commence on Monday 17/8/2026 and the duration of the works are anticipated to be around 3 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
