THE DEFINITIVE MAP & STATEMENT FOR THE FORMER PENWITH DISTRICT AREA
THE CORNWALL COUNCIL (UPGRADE OF FOOTPATHS TO BRIDLEWAYS AND A RESTRICTED BYWAY, AND UPGRADE OF A BRIDLEWAY TO RESTRICTED BYWAY TOGETHER WITH THE ADDITION OF A FOOTPATH, BRIDLEWAYS AND RESTRICTED BYWAYS AT NINE MAIDENS IN THE PARISH OF MADRON) MODIFICATION ORDER 2026
The above Order made on 16 July 2026, if confirmed as made, will modify the definitive map &statement for the area by:
i) Upgrading a length of existing Footpath 57 in the Parish of Madron to Public Bridleway from Classified Road C6 approx 796 metres south-west of 'Coronation Farm' at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) SW 4187/3441, then running in a north-easterly direction for 911 metres to Footpath 23 Madron at OSGR SW 4252/3498, then running in a north-easterly direction for 645 metres to another junction with Footpath 23 Madron, Footpath 15 Morvah and two other Bridleways to be added by this Order, approx 732 metres east-north-east of 'Coronation Farm' at OSGR SW 4297/3541.
ii) Upgrading a length of existing Footpath 23 in the Parish of Madron to Public Bridleway from Footpath 23 Madron and a Bridleway to be added by this Order approx 785 metres west-south-west of'Bal Cottage' at OSGR SW 4320/3476, then running in a south-easterly direction for 305 metres to Footpath 23 Madron and a Bridleway to be added by this Order approx 699 metres west-south-west of'Bal Cottage' at OSGR SW 4338/3452.
iii) Upgrading a length of existing Footpath 23 in the Parish of Madron to Restricted Byway from Footpath 23 Madron and a Restricted Byway to be added by this Order approx 485 metres north of'Bosilliack Farmhouse' at OSGR SW 4352/3448, then running in a southerly direction for 36 metres to a Bridleway to be added by this Order, existing Bridleway 21 Madron to be upgraded to Restricted Byway by this Order and Bridleway 21 Madron, approx 447 metres north of'Bosilliack Farmhouse' at OSGR SW 4352/3444.
iv) Upgrading a length of existing Bridleway 21 in the Parish of Madron to Restricted Byway from a Bridleway to be added by this Order and existing Footpath 23 Madron to be upgraded to Restricted Byway by this Order and Bridleway 21 Madron approx 447 metres north of'Bosilliack Farmhouse' at OSGR SW 4352/3444, then running in a southerly direction for 4 metres to a Footpath to be added by this Order at OSGR SW 4352/3444, then running in a south-south-easterly direction for 216 metres to a Restricted Byway to be added by this Order and Bridleway 21 Madron approx 328 metres north-north-east of 'Bosilliack Farmhouse' at OSGR SW 4367/3429.
v) Adding a length of Public Footpath in the Parish of Madron from Footpath 22 Madron approx 406 metres north of'Bosilliack Farmhouse' at OSGR SW 4342/3439, then running in an east-north-easterly direction for 116 metres to existing Bridleway 21 Madron to be upgraded to Restricted Byway by this Order approx 440 metres north of'Bosilliack Farmhouse' at OSGR SW 4352/3444.
vi) Adding a length of Public Bridleway in the Parish of Madron from existing Footpath 57 Madron to be upgraded to Public Bridleway by this Order, Footpath 23 Madron, Footpath 15 Morvah and another Bridleway to be added by this Order, approx 1123 metres north-west of'Bal Cottage' at OSGR SW 4297/3541, then running in an east-south-easterly direction for 34 metres to another Public Bridleway to be added by this Order at OSGR SW 4300/3540, then running in an east-south-easterly, east-north-easterly, south-easterly and easterly direction for 1,485 metres to Bridleway 68 Madron approx 592 metres north-east of 'Bal Cottage' at OSGR SW 4440/3531.
vii) Adding a length of Public Bridleway in the Parish of Madron from existing Footpath 57 Madron to be upgraded to Public Bridleway by this Order, Footpath 15 Morvah, Footpath 23 Madron and another Bridleway to be added by this Order, approx 1123 metres north-west of'Bal Cottage' at OSGR SW 4297/3541, then running in a south-south-easterly then southerly direction for 366 metres to Footpath 23 Madron at OSGR SW 4313/3509, then running in a southerly direction for 345 metres to Footpath 23 Madron and existing Footpath 23 Madron to be upgraded to Public Bridleway by this Order approx 787 metres west of'Bal Cottage' at OSGR SW 4320/3476.
viii) Adding a length of Public Bridleway in the Parish of Madron from Footpath 23 Madron and existing Footpath 23 Madron to be upgraded to Public Bridleway by this Order approx 544 metres north of'Bosilliack Farmhouse' at OSGR SW 4338/3452, then running in a southerly then easterly direction for 194 metres to existing Footpath 23 Madron to be upgraded to Restricted Byway by this Order and existing Bridleway 21 Madron to be upgraded to Restricted Byway by this Order and Bridleway 21 Madron approx 447 metres north of'Bosilliack Farmhouse' at OSGR SW 4352/3444.
ix) Adding a length of Public Bridleway in the Parish of Madron from a Bridleway to be added by this Order approx 1,097 metres north-west of 'Bal Cottage' at OSGR SW 4300/3540, then running in an east-south-easterly direction for 296 metres to another Public Bridleway to be added by this Order at OSGR SW 4328/3532, then running in a south-south-easterly then southerly direction for 794 metres to a Restricted Byway to be added by this Order approx 483 metres south-west of'Bal Cottage' at OSGR SW 4359/3461.
x) Adding a length of Public Bridleway in the Parish of Madron from a Bridleway to be added by this Order, approx 814 metres north-west of 'Bal Cottage' at OSGR SW 4328/3532, then running in a south-easterly, east-south-easterly then south-easterly direction for 1,129 metres to a Restricted Byway to be added by this Order approx 221 metres south-east of'Bal Cottage' at OSGR SW 4416/3478.
xi) Adding a length of Restricted Byway in the Parish of Madron from its junction with a Bridleway to be added by this Order approx 221 metres south-east of'Bal Cottage' at OSGR SW 4416/3478, then running in a west-south-westerly then south-south-westerly direction for 52 metres to Unclassified Road U6011 at OSGR SW 4414/3474, then running in a north westerly then west-south-westerly then south-westerly direction for 692 metres to a Bridleway to be added by this Order at OSGR SW 4359/3461, then running in a south-westerly direction for 147 metres to Footpath 23 Madron and existing Footpath 23 Madron to be upgraded to Restricted Byway by this Order approx 615 metres south-west of'Bal Cottage' at OSGR SW 4352/3448.
xii) Adding a length of Restricted Byway in the Parish of Madron from existing Bridleway 21 Madron to be upgraded to Restricted Byway by this Order and Bridleway No. 21 Madron approx 328 metres north-north-east of'Bosilliack Farmhouse' at OSGR SW 4367/3429, then running in a southerly direction for 240 metres to Unclassified Road U6011 approx 228 metres east-north-east of'Bosilliack Farmhouse' at OSGR 4374/3406.

A copy of the Order & Map has been placed & may be seen free of charge at Penzance Library & Information Service, St John's Hall, Penzance, TR18 2QW, from 9am-5pm on Monday to Friday & from 10am-4pm on Saturday (Bank Holidays excepted). A copy may also be viewed at the Offices of Cornwall Council at New County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, TR1 3AY from 9am to 5pm, from Monday to Friday (Bank Holidays excepted).
Any representation or objection relating to the Order must be sent in writing to the Public Rights of Way Team Leader, Cornwall Council Regulatory Services, New County Hall, Truro TR1 3AY (quoting Reference WCA 811) not later than 12 September 2026 stating the grounds on which they are made.
If no representations of objections are duly made to the Order, (or to any part of it), or if any so made are withdrawn, the Cornwall Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State (or part of it if the authority has by notice to the Secretary of State so elected under paragraph 5 of Schedule 15 to the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981) may itself confirm the Order (or that part of the Order).
If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State (in whole or in part) any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with it.
