What is happening?

THE HAMPSHIRE (VARIOUS ROADS, NEW ALRESFORD) (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND PARKING PLACES) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council made the above-mentioned Order on Tuesday 21st July 2026, in exercise of its powers and duties under Sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 32, 35, 39, 122(1) and 122(2) of the Act, Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Act, and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act, and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.

GENERAL NATURE AND EFFECTS OF THE ORDER: Will be to implement No Waiting at any Time restrictions; limited waiting Monday-Saturday, 9am – 6pm and Limited Waiting Mon-Sat 8am-6pm 2 hrs No return 2 hrs along the stretches of road in New Alresford as outlined in the schedules below:

East

Between the intersection of the north side of Spring Gardens and east side of New Farm Road and a point 38 metres north thereof.



Between a point 31 metres south of Prospect Road and a point 39 metres south of that point.



Between a point 10 metres north of its junction with Prospect Road and a point 9 metres south of that junction.


West

Between the intersection of the north side of Spring Gardens and west side of New Farm Road and a point 19 metres north thereof.

Prospect Road

Both

Between its junction with New Farm Road and a point 20 metres east thereof.

Spring Gardens

Both

Between a point 30 metres east of the intersection of the north side of Spring Gardens and east side of New Farm Road and a point 17 metres west of that point.

Watercress Gardens

Both

Between the intersection of the north side of Watercress Meadow and west side of New Farm Road and a point 5 metres west of that point.

The Dean

West

Between its junction with Pound Hill and a point 102 metres north thereof.

This order will revoke and consolidate several New Alresford traffic regulation orders without change of substance save for that stated above.

DATE OF OPERATION: The order will come into force on Monday 17th August 2026.

(i) Alresford Library, 20 Broad Street, New Alresford, SO24 9AQ (opening hours: Tuesday & Friday: 13.00 – 17.00; Thursday & Saturday: 09.30 – 13.30)

(ii) Winchester City Council, Colebrook Street, Winchester, SO23 9LJ (Opening hours: Monday – Thursday 08.30 – 17.00; Friday: 08.30 – 16.30)

(iii) Hampshire County Council Headquarters, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UJ (Opening hours: Mondays to Thursdays 8.30 – 5.15; Fridays 8.30 – 4.45)

APPLICATION TO THE HIGH COURT: Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Act, or that any of the relevant requirements of the Act or of any relevant instrument made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, by 1st September 2026 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
