THE A1 TRUNK ROAD (NEAR FERNWOOD, NOTTINGHAMSHIRE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC IN LAYBYS) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) has made an order on the A1 Trunk Road, near Fernwood, Newark, in the County of Nottinghamshire, to enable drainage and survey works to be carried out.
The effect of the Order will be to close, at different times, the layby adjacent to –
(1) the northbound carriageway of the A1 approximately 550 metres southeast of the centreline of Cross Lane overbridge, near Fernwood; and
(2) the southbound carriageway of the A1 approximately 550 metres southeast of the centreline of Cross Lane overbridge, near Fernwood.
The layby adjacent to the northbound carriageway is expected to be closed from 14:00 hours on 3 August 2026 until 06:00 on 8 August 2026 and the layby adjacent to the southbound carriageway is expected to be closed from 14:00 hours on 10 August 2026 until 06:00 hours on 22 August 2026.
The Order will come into force on 31 July 2026.
Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the layby closures.

THE A1 TRUNK ROAD (STAMFORD TO BARROWBY, LINCOLNSHIRE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC IN LAYBYS) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) has made an order on the A1 Trunk Road, between Stamford and Barrowby, in the County of Lincolnshire, to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out.
The effect of the Order will be to close, in phases, anylayby situated adjacent to the northbound carriagewayof the A1 from its junction with the link road leading tothe A606 Empingham Road, at Stamford, to its junctionwith the link road leading from the A52, at Barrowby.
The works are expected to start at 13:00 hourson Thursday 6 August 2026 and continue forapproximately twelve weeks. The Order will comeinto force on 3 August 2026.
Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescueauthority or ambulance purposes and vehicles beingused in connection with the works will be exemptfrom the closures.
