A14 Trunk Road - Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic For General Maintenance Works

THE A14 TRUNK ROAD (JUNCTION 33 MILTON INTERCHANGE TO JUNCTION 35 STOW-CUM-QUY INTERCHANGE, CAMBRIDGESHIRE)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 202_ NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that National Highways Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the Al 4 Trunk Road ("the A14") in the County of Cambridgeshire to allow for carriageway resurfacing, waterproofing, replacement of expansion joints on bridge deck, installation of new communication ducting, new drainage, sealing concrete cracks, installation of safety barrier, renewal of road markings and studs and general maintenance works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on, or after, Monday 24 August 2026 and last for approximately 4 months.
The closures and speed restrictions would be applied only to the extent that is necessary for particular works to be undertaken and would only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
The effect of the Order on the Al 4 would be to -1. impose, for 24 hours daily, in conjunction with narrow lanes, a speed limit of -
50 miles per hour on the -
• eastbound carriageway from a point 150 metres east of the centre point of Junction 33 Milton Interchange eastern overbridge for a distance on 950 metres,
• westbound carriageway from the entry slip road at Junction 35 Stow-cum-Quy Interchange for a distance of 1500 metres, and
• eastbound entry slip road at Junction 33 Milton Interchange.
40 miles per hour on the -
• eastbound carriageway from a point 1000 metres east of the centre point of Junction 33 Milton Interchange eastern overbridge to the exit slip road at Junction 34 Fen Ditton Interchange, and
• westbound carriageway from a point 1500 metres west of the entry slip road at Junction 35 Stow-cum-Quy Interchange to a point 300 metres west of the westbound entry slip road at Junction 34 Fen Ditton Interchange. 2. Close, for 24 hours daily, all laybys adjacent to the eastbound and westbound carriageways between Junction 33 Milton Interchange and Junction 35 Stow-cum-Quy Interchange.
The temporary mandatory speed limits (which would not apply to emergency service or special force vehicles), closures (which would not apply to emergency service, traffic officer, works or winter maintenance vehicles) and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs.
The Order would come into force on 17 August 2026 and may continue in force until the works detailed above have been completed, or for a maximum duration of eighteen months, whichever is the earlier.
