THE A46 TRUNK ROAD (BETWEEN SAXONDALE AND NEWARK-ON-TRENT, NOTTINGHAMSHIRE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company no. 9346363) intends to make an order on the A46 Trunk Road, between Saxondale and Newark-on-Trent, in the County of Nottinghamshire, to enable cyclical maintenance works to be carried out.

The effect of the Order will be to –

(1) close, at different times, –

(a) the northbound carriageway of the A46 from its junction with the slip road leading to its roundabout junction with the A52, The Fosse and Grantham Road (Bingham Interchange), at Saxondale, to its roundabout junction with the A1 slip roads and the B6166 (Brownhills Roundabout), at Newark-on-Trent;

(b) the southbound carriageway of the A46 from its junction with Brownhills Roundabout, to its junction with the slip road leading from Bingham Interchange; and

(c) any slip road or link road leading to or from the lengths of the A46 described in (a) and (b) above; and

(2) prohibit any vehicle from entering or leaving the lengths of the A46 described in (1)(a) and (b) above at its junction with any side road.

The work will be carried out in phases overnight, on weeknights only, between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours and is expected to start on Thursday 13 August 2026 and continue for approximately five weeks.

The Order will come into force on 12 August 2026.

Diversion routes via the B6166, the A616, the B6325 and the A1 and vice versa will be signed.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closures.
