What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -

SECTION 16A

THE M62 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION

36 TO 35) AND M18 MOTORWAY

(JUNCTION 7 TO 6)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National

Highways Limited has made an Order

on the M62 and the M18 Motorway, in

the Districts of East Riding of Yorkshire,

Doncaster City Council, and North

Yorkshire, to enable site clearance, lighting,

renewal and installation of vehicle restraint

systems, carriageway road markings

and resurfacing, electrical, horticultural,

drainage and routine maintenance works

to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on

Saturday 3 August 2026 for 10 weeks,

or until completed.

The effect of the Order will be Monday to

Sunday between 8pm and 6am, at times

during the works, close the:

(i) M62 westbound carriageway between

Junction 36 (Goole Interchange) and

Junction 35 (Langham), a distance of

6440 metres;

(ii) M18 southbound carriageway between

Junction 7 (Langham) and Junction 6

(Waterside Interchange), a distance of

7220 metres;

(iii) M62 eastbound exit slip road to the

M18 southbound link road at Junction

35 (Langham);

(iv) M62 westbound exit slip road to the

southbound link road at Junction 35

(Langham);

(v) M62 westbound entry slip road at

Junction 36 (Goole Interchange); and

(vi) M18 southbound exit slip road at

Junction 6 (Waterside Interchange).

During the closures suitably signed

alternative routes will be available.

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of

the prohibitions (which will not apply to

emergency service vehicles or vehicles

being used in connection with the said event

or for traffic officer purposes). The Order

comes into force on 2 August 2026 and has

a maximum duration of eighteen months.
