Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Stadhampton, B4015 (30mph Speed Limit)

Date of Order: 17 August 2026

Coming into force: 22 August 2026

This Order is being introduced because of excavations to facilitate jointing and cabling works as part of electricity network upgrade which are to be completed 2 September. This is a 24 hour daily speed limit restriction. The effect of the Order is to temporarily reduce the 50mph speed limit to 30mph eastwards for 445metres from near the entrance to Marylands Farm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. The relevant part of the Oxfordshire County Council (Stadhampton-Chalgrove Areas) (Speed Limits) Order 2025 regarding the existing 50mph speed limit shall be temporarily suspended. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

This Order is being introduced because of gas replacement works which are anticipated to be completed 4 September 2026. This is a 24 hour daily road closure. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of Baptist Way from the junction with Reading Road to the junction with Boshers Close. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Pedestrian access maintained past closure. Cyclist – must dismount and walk past closure. The alternative route for traffic is via Baptist Way – Station Road – The Forty – Wallingford Road – Reading Road and vice versa. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

The alternative route is via the A329, Wallingford Road and vice versa. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding or waiting in Stadhampton Road. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via the B480, B4015, A4074, Burcot Lane, Dorchester Road, High Street, Church Lane, Stadhampton Road and vice versa. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians. The alternative route for traffic is via Blewbury Hill, Bessels Way, Hagbourne Road, Thorp Street, Fullers Road, Baker Street and vice versa. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

The effect of the Order is to close temporarily that part of Footpath No.171/9/10 beneath and either side of Clifton Hampden Thames bridge. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. The alternative route will be signed locally. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 6 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles and public using the Footpath 195/7/20 from Main Street, East Challow to the junction with Public Footpath 391/35/20 just before Stockham Bridge. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. An alternative route is via Public Footpath 196/5/10 off Canal Way, East Challow, pavement alongside Challow Road via Hamilton Drive, then follow Winchester Way to Stockham Way to reach Public Footpath 391/35/20 and Stockham Bridge. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 6 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.
