Hertfordshire - Multiple Temporary Road & Footpath Closures Due To Various Works

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(Temporary Traffic Management Measures On Various Roads And Footpaths In Potters Bar) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:-
1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
a) that length of Marshe Close, Potters Bar from its junction with Chace Close north westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

b) that length of Aston Way, Potters Bar from its junction with Chace Avenue north westwards and south westwards to its junction with Wayside, a distance of approximately 102m.
An alternative route will be via: Chace Avenue, Carpenter Way, Tempest Avenue, Forbes Avenue, Wayside and Aston Way.

c) that length of Highview Gardens, Potters Bar from its junction with View Road north eastwards and south eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

2. To prohibit all pedestrians from using the following lengths of footpath ("the Footpaths") –
a) the footpath situated on the north west side of No.26 Marshe Close, Potters Bar from its junction with Marshe Close south westwards, north westwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 57m.
An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the south west side of Marshe Close.

b) the footpath situated on the east side of No.30 Aston Way, Potters Bar from a point 37m south west of its junction with Marshe Close south eastwards, south westwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 101m.
An alternative route will be via the footpath situated on the north west side of Marshe Close, the footway situated on the north west side of Chace Avenue and the footway situated on the north side of Aston Way.

c) the footpath situated on the north side of No.1 Salisbury Close, Potters Bar from its junction with Salisbury Close south westwards for a distance of approximately 56m.
An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the south side of Salisbury Close, the footway situated on the east side of A1000 High Street, the footway situated on the north east side of A111 Southgate Road and the footway situated on the south east, north east and south east sides of Highview Road.

d) the footpath fronting Nos.78-88 Highview Gardens, Potters Bar from its northernmost junction with the footpath situated on the north side of No.1 Salisbury Close southwards, clockwise, eastwards, north eastwards and north westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads and Footpaths.

The Order will come into effect from 17 August 2026 and will be valid for a period of 6 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads and Footpaths.

(Temporary Closing And Waiting Restrictions On Cowards Lane, Codicote) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Cowards Lane, Codicote from its junction with Eden Rise north westwards to its junction with The Opening, a distance of approximately 162m ("the Road").

An alternative route will be via High Street and St Albans Road.

Additionally, all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Road, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because highway improvement works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 3 August 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 7 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Great Dell, Welwyn Garden City And Stuart Road, Welwyn) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access:-
1. that length of Great Dell, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Templewood south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with Coneydale, a distance of approximately 105m.
An alternative route will be via Templewood, Pentley Park and Coneydale.

2. that length of Stuart Road, Welwyn from its junction with Windsor Road north westwards to its junction with Norman Road, a distance of approximately 88m.
An alternative route will be via Windsor Road and Norman Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 4 August 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(Temporary Closing Of A1001 South Way, Hatfield) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A1001 South Way, Hatfield from its junction with the A1001 Roehyde Way roundabout north eastwards to its junction with Bishops Rise, a distance of approximately 245m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via A1001 (Roehyde Way/Comet Way), B6426 Cavendish Way and Bishops Rise.

The Order is needed because telecom maintenance works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 4 August 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
