Felixstowe - Changes to Waiting Restrictions and On-Street Parking

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (DISTRICT OF SUFFOLK COASTAL) (STOPPING WAITING AND LOADING PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS AND ON-STREET PARKING PLACES) (MAP-BASED ORDER 2019) (FELIXSTOWE) (VARIOUS ROADS) (U3126) (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING WITHOUT MOTOR CAR AND MOTORCYCLE PARKING) (REVOCATION) (VARIATION NO. 24) ORDER 202-

Suffolk County Council proposes to make the above order under Sections 1(1) and (2), 2(1) to (3), 4(2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which would replace revision 1 of Map Tiles HP152, HP151, H0152 with revision 2 of the Map Tiles bearing the same references into the above-named order.

The effect of this would be to introduce:

1. No waiting at any time on:

• Beach Road East (U3126), on both sides, from its junction with Undercliff Road East, north for a distance of 10m

• Brook Lane (U3126), on both sides, from its junction with Undercliff Road East, north for a distance of 10m

• Undercliff Road East (U3126):

• North side, from a point 31m west of Brook Lane, east for a total distance of 146m

• North side, from a point 15m west of Beach Road East, east for a distance of 30m

• South side, from a point 57m east of Brook Lane, in an easterly direction and then in a northern direction for a distance of 68m

• South-side, from a point 3m east of the centre of Brook Lane, west for 10m

• South-side from a point 5m east of the centre of Beach Road East, west for a distance of 10m

• Maybush Lane (U3126), on both sides, from a point 125m east/northeast of Brook Lane, northeast for 10m.

2. Disabled Parking Bay, 3 hours Limited Waiting No Return within 2 hours on:

• Undercliff Road East (U3126), on its south-side, from a point 57m east of Brook Lane, west for a distance of 54m

• Undercliff Road East (U3126), on its south-side, from a point 152m west of Beach Road East, west for a distance of 24m

3. Motor Car Parking Bay on Undercliff Road East (U3126):

• North side, from a point 31m west of the centre of Brook Lane, west for a distance of 33m

• North side, from a point 78m west of Brook Lane, west for a distance of 50m

• North side, from a point 46m east of Beach Road East, east for a distance of 8m

• North side, from a point 25m west of Beach Road East, west for a distance of 149m

• South side, from a point 7m west of the centre of Brook Lane, west for a distance of 27m

• South side, from a point 55m west of Brook Lane, west for a distance of 143m

• South side, from a point 5m west of Beach Road East, west for a distance of 120m

4. Motorcycle Parking on:

• Undercliff Road East (U3126), on its north-side, from a point 15m west of Beach Road East, west for a distance of 10m.

Exemptions to the waiting restrictions allow a vehicle to wait for so long as is necessary to board or alight or to load and unload for building, industrial or demolition works, for emergency services, for the maintenance of the road or its services and to fulfil statutory duties. There are the usual setting down/picking up exemptions for Blue Badge holders.

This order hereby revokes the provisions of the experimental traffic regulation order- Suffolk County Council (District of Suffolk Coastal) (Stopping, Waiting and Loading Prohibitions and Restrictions and On-Street Parking Places) (Map Based) Order 2019 (Felixstowe) Various Roads (U3126) (Experimental Variation) Order 2025 which came into effect on 07/07/2025.

This order is intended to replicate the provisions of the Experimental Traffic Regulation Order, save that it will: introduce an additional no waiting at any time restriction on Maybush Lane (U3126); replace the Motorcycle Parking on Undercliff Road East (U3126), on its south-side, from a point 7m west of the centre of Brook Lane, west for a distance of 27m with Motor Car parking Bays; introduce further motor car parking bays on Undercliff Road East in front of Tudor Arms Hotel, for a distance of 33m; and shorten the no waiting at any time restriction on Undercliff Road East, north-side, to a point 31m west of Brook Lane for a total distance of 146m.

Copies of the draft order, map showing the roads affected and the Council's reasons for the proposals, may be seen with advance notice at the address below 9am - 5pm on Monday - Friday and also at Felixstowe Library, Crescent Road, Felixstowe IP11 7BY, Monday and Sunday 10am - 4pm; Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9am - 5.30pm; Wednesday 9am - 7.30pm; Saturday 9am - 5pm (excluding Bank holidays and public holidays).
