What is happening?

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF PUBLIC
PATH ORDERHIGHWAYS ACT 1980
THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(BABWORTH FOOTPATH NO. 9) DIVERSION ORDER (2026)

On the 8th July 2026 the Nottinghamshire County Council confirmed the above Order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.

The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert the whole width of that part of Babworth Footpath 9 commencing from a point SK6881 7869 proceeding in a South West direction across a field for a distance of approximately 321 metres to the junction with Bridleway 5 at point SK6855 7849, to a line commencing from SK6881 7869 proceeding in a Westerly direction along field edge for a distance of approximately 280 metres, to a point SK6853 7869, at the junction with Bridleway 5.

A copy of the Order as confirmed and the Order Map may be seen free of charge at my Office at the address below between the hours of 9.00 am and 4.30 pm Mondays to Fridays inclusive. Alternatively, copies of the Order and Map can be posted out or emailed if required. The documents will also be available to view at the offices of Bassetlaw District Council, Queen's Buildings, Potter Street, Worksop, Notts, S80 2AH and at Retford Public Library, 17 Churchgate, Retford, Nottinghamshire, DN22 6PE during their respective normal opening hours until 27th August 2026. This Order comes into force on the 30th July but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act, as amended, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by Paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 30th July 2026, make an application for the purpose to the High Court.
