What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF BLACKPOOL

(CENTRAL DRIVE) 

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Blackpool Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers to facilitate carriageway resurfacing. The effect of the Order will be to:

(a)  Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of Central Drive between from its junction with Bloomfield Road for approximately 300 metres in the northerly direction.

(b)  No right or left turn onto Central Drive from its junction with Lune Grove. (c) No right or left turn onto Central Drive from the unnamed road situated between Palmer Avenue and Lune Grove and adjacent to Shorelands/ Keats Day Centre.

(d)  No right or left turn onto Central Drive from its junction with Plamer Avenue.

(e)  No right or left turn onto Central Drive from the gated alleyway situated between Bloomfield Road and Palmer Avenue.

(f)  No right or left turn onto Central Drive from its junction with Field Street.

(g)  No right or left turn onto Central Drive from its junction with Loverose Lane. Pedestrian access to premises will be maintained at all times. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times. Vehicular access will be maintained wherever possible. NB. Vehicular access will not be permitted whilst works are being undertaken to plane the carriageway and laying of the binder.

All diversion routes will be clearly signed and maintained on site. The proposed Order will commence on 19 August 2026 and continue in force for eighteen months or until the sooner completion of the aforesaid works. It is expected that the works will take 8 days between the hours of 19:00 and 05.00.
