What is happening?
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
(BOROUGH OF IPSWICH) - West End Road (A137) (Bus Lane) Order 202-
Suffolk County Council proposes to make the above order under Sections 1 and 2, 4, 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which would be to:
- introduce a new prohibition of motor vehicles except buses, cycles, motorcycles and taxis, on West End Road (A137) on its southwest side from a point 25 metres east of its junction with Sir Alf Ramsey Way (182/06117 - 5U5009/10) in a north-westerly direction for a total distance of 367 metres.
Exemptions to the bus only road include emergency services, statutory undertakers and building and maintenance vehicles are assumed to be exempt unless we are instructed otherwise. Cycles, solo motorcycles and taxis are admitted using the bus lane.
This order seeks to replicate the experimental restrictions of the provisions of the Suffolk County Council (Ipswich) - (West End Road) - (Bus Lane) - (Experimental and Revocation) Order 2023, save that the total length of the bus lane has been shortened by thirty-five metres and solo motorcycles will also be permitted to use the bus lane.
