BIRMINGHAM CITY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 (AS AMENDED) SECTION 14(1) (T080826) (CHURCH ROAD ETC, PERRY BARR) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC AND STOPPING) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is hereby given that Birmingham City Council intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order the effect of which will be to:
i. prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along Church Road between the Alexander Stadium car park exit and its junction with Walsall Road, other than in a westbound direction.
ii. prohibit any vehicle from turning right from Church Road into Walsall Road, Walsall Road into Church Road, Walsall Road into Perry Avenue, Perry Avenue into Walsall Road and Aldridge Road into Church Road.
iii. prohibit any vehicle from stopping at any time on both sides of Church Road between its junction with Walsall Road and its junction with Aldridge Road.
iv. prohibit any vehicle from entering into or proceeding along Perry Avenue at its junction with Walsall Road, Rocky Lane at its junction with Walsall Road. Cliveden Avenue at its junction with Walsall Road, Kingsdown Avenue at its junction with Old Walsall Road and Rocky Lane at its junction with Old Walsall Road.
v. suspend the existing bus lane on the southbound length of Walsall Road between its junction with Stadium Way and its junction with Church Road.
vi. introduce a limited waiting restriction permitting vehicles to wait for a period of up to 10 minutes and no return within 1 hour on the southbound length of Walsall Road between its junction with Stadium Way and its junction with Church Road. vii. suspend the existing taxi rank and No Stopping restrictions on the north side of Broad Street between Gas Street and Bridge Street.
viii. introduce a bus stand for ‘Games Buses only’ on the north side of Broad Street between Gas Street and Bridge Street.
The temporary Order is required to reduce congestion and managed traffic during the European Athletics Championships.
An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signposted via Walsall Road and Aldridge Road.
The effects of the Order shall apply only during such times and to such extent from time to time and be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs and General Directions 2016.
The Order will come into operation on 8/8/26 and will remain in force for a period of 11 days.
