What is happening?

THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH
TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
HIGH LANE, SUTTON UPON DERWENT

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order
the effect of which is to prohibit any person from
causing any vehicle to proceed/from proceeding on
foot/whether on foot, pedal cycle or on horseback
along High Lane, Sutton Upon Derwent between the
junctions of Main Street and Sandhill Road commencing
31 July 2026 to allow for carriageway patching works.
The reason for the closure is to enable the proposed
works to be carried out and completed in a manner
consistent with ensuring the safety of the public.
It is anticipated that the works will be completed within
one day.
The alternative route for traffic affected by the Order
is via Back Road, Wilberfoss Road, York Road, Hull Road,
Sutton Lane, The Street and Sandhill Lane, Newton on
Derwent CP, Allerthorpe CP, Sutton Upon Derwent
CP, Barmby Moor CP, Thornton CP, Wilberfoss CP,
Pocklington Provincial Ward, Wolds Weighton Ward.
The road will be closed to all through traffic but remain
open at all times to pedestrians and for vehicular access
to properties directly affected by the closure and for
emergency services. The Order will commence 31 July
2026 and continue in force for a period not exceeding
eighteen months or until the works which it is
proposed to carry out have been completed, whichever
is the earlier. Further information can be obtained from
