THE CITY OF SOUTHAMPTON
(SUBURBAN DISTRICT CENTRES AMENDMENTS) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT SOUTHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL proposes to make the above Order, the effects of which would be:
1. To introduce No waiting at any time restrictions (double yellow lines) in the following lengths of road:
a. Angel Crescent (section to the rear of 415 - 453 Bitterne Road), north side, for its remaining unrestricted extent.
b. Garton Road, south side, for its remaining unrestricted extent.
c. Jubilee Gardens, all sides, for its remaining unrestricted extent.
d. Parkville Road (unadopted section to the rear of 1 - 14 Parkville Road), all sides, for its entire length.
e. White’s Road, all sides, from 20m south of its junction with Deacon Road to its southern closed end.
2. To amend the following limited waiting bays to 8am – 6pm on all days: 30-minute max stay (no return within the same day):
a. Bridge Road, all limited waiting bays between Tankerville Road and Portsmouth Road.
b. Brookvale Road, the limited waiting bay outside 5–9 Brookvale Road.
c. Church Street, all limited waiting bays between Shirley High Street and Victor Street.
d. Grove Road, the limited waiting bay between Firgrove Road and Shirley Road.
e. Howards Grove, the limited waiting bay between Cannon Street and Vincent Road.
f. Howard Road, the limited waiting bay between Shirley Road and Stafford Road.
g. John Thornycroft Road, the limited waiting bay in the layby adjacent to Woolston Library.
h. Keswick Road, the limited waiting bay opposite Condor Close.
i. Oakbank Road, all limited waiting bays between Hazel Road and Bridge Road.
j. Portsmouth Road, all limited waiting bays between Wharf Road and the Itchen Bridge roundabout.
k. Portsmouth Road, all limited waiting bays between Mayfield Road and Broadlands Road and all limited waiting bays between Brookvale Road and St Denys Road.
l. Romsey Road, the limited waiting bay between Cecil Avenue and Clarendon Road.
m. Shirley Road, all limited waiting bays, between Dyer Road and Shirley Avenue.
n. Shirley Avenue, all limited waiting bays between Vincent Road and Shirley High Street.
o. Shaftesbury Avenue, the limited waiting bay between Richmond Gardens and Highfield Lane.
p. St Denys Road (Spur), all limited waiting bays between St Denys Road and Portswood Road.
q. Victoria Road, all limited waiting bays between Vosper Road and Portsmouth Road.
r. Vincent Road, the limited waiting bay between Howards Grove and Shirley Avenue.
s. White’s Road, the limited waiting bay between Bursledon Road and the White’s Road Car Park.
t. Westridge Road, all limited waiting bays between Portswood Road and Westridge Court.
3. To introduce No Waiting Mon-Sat: 8am-6pm restrictions in Brownlow Avenue, both sides, for its remaining unrestricted extents.
4. To introduce Disabled Parking Bay (applying at all times) in place of the existing limited waiting bay outside Holy Saviours Church on Bursledon Road.
5. To amend the parking bays on Macnaghten Road opposite 124 & 126 Macnaghten Road to 8am - 6pm on all days: 4 hours max stay (no return same day).
Copies of the draft order, relevant map and statement of reasons for proposing can be viewed on the Councils website: http://transport.southampton.gov.uk/TRO or may be inspected Monday - Friday, 10am – 3pm at Gateway in the Civic Centre, Southampton SO14 7LY.
Any person wishing to object or make any other representation relating to this order must do so in writing via the Councils website: http://transport.southampton.gov.uk/TRO or by post to the Traffic Regulation Team at Balfour Beatty Living Places, City Depot, First Avenue, Southampton, SO15 0LJ quoting the order title and, where objecting, stating the grounds for the objection, within 21 days of the date of this notice (i.e. by 14th August 2026).
