Long Stratton - Multiple Proposed Speed Limit Orders & Shared Footway/Cycle Track

THE NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

(LONG STRATTON, C345 SWAN LANE AND U71874 BROOKES WAY) PROPOSED TRAFFIC ORDERS AND FOOTWAY/CYCLE TRACK NOTICE 2026

The Norfolk County Council (Long Stratton, C345 Swan Lane and U71874 Brookes Way) (30 M.P.H Speed Limit) Order 2026

Norfolk County Council propose to make the above-named Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to prohibit any motor vehicle from exceeding 30 miles per hour along the U71874 Brookes Way from its junction with the C345 Swan Lane eastwards for 31 metres and along the C345 Swan Lane from its junction with the U71874 Brookes Lane to a point 71 metres north-westwards.

The proposal includes a short existing section of Swan Lane currently subject to a 20mph speed limit, at the point where that limit meets the national speed limit, which would become subject to a 30mph limit, together with the newly constructed realigned section of highway that would be subject to a new 30mph limit.

Norfolk County Council propose to make the above-named Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to prohibit any motor vehicle from exceeding 20 miles per hour along the C345 Swan Lane from its junction with the C889 The Street north-westwards to its junction with the U71874 Brookes Way.

The Norfolk County Council (Long Stratton and Tharston, Swan Lane) (20mph Speed Limit Zone) Order 2013 (the “2013 Order”) will become revoked on the date of commencement of this Order.

The Norfolk County Council (Long Stratton, C345 Swan Lane and U71874 Brookes Way) Footway/Cycle Track Notice 2026

Under Sections 65(1), 66(1) and 66(4) of the Highways Act 1980, Norfolk County Council is proposing to install a shared use segregated footway/cycle track (with rights of way on foot) under Sections 65(1), 66(1) and 66(4) of the Highways Act 1980, at the following locations in the town of Long Stratton:

The conversion of the above length will result in the construction of a combined cycle track/footway up to 5.4 metres in width. Pedestrians and cyclists will have joint use and will be segregated.

The reason for this proposal is to provide a safer route for cyclists and pedestrians.

Any objections and representations relating to the proposed Orders must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which they are made. Comments may also be made in relation to the footway/cycle track notice.
