What is happening?

The County Council of Durham

(Dalton Avenue, Exeter Avenue, Frank Avenue, Grantham Avenue, Hexham Avenue, Ivy Avenue, Jasper Avenue and Kingston Avenue, Seaham) (Temporary Rolling Footpath Closure) Order 2026

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of footpath.

Dalton Avenue: A 236 metre length from the front of No. 1-48.

Exeter Avenue: A 42 metre length to the side of No. 43-44 and a 213 metre length to the front of No. 1-44.

Frank Avenue: A 42 metre length to the side of No. 43-44 and a 213 metre length to the front of No. 1-44.

Grantham Avenue: A 42 metre length to the side of No. 43-44 and a 213 metre length to the front of No. 1-44.

Hexham Avenue: A 42 metre length to the side of No. 43-44 and a 213 metre length to the front of No. 1-44.

Ivy Avenue: A 42 metre length to the side of No. 43-44 and a 213 metre length to the front of No. 1-44.

Jasper Avenue: A 42 metre length to the side of No. 43-44 and a 213 metre length to the front of No. 1-44.

Kingston Avenue: A 316 metre length to the front of No. 2-64 to enable gas main replacement works to be undertaken.

Throughout the period of the closure alternative routes, where available, will be signposted on site. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The rolling closure is required for the duration of the works, anticipated to be 27 weeks from 8am on Monday 10/8/2026. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
