Seaham - Temporary Footpath Closure Due To Gas Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (Public Rights of Way, Footpath Number 12, Seaham Parish, Seaham) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following length of footpath. A 37 metre length of Footpath No. 12, Seaham from the side of Lynn Court & Green Gables, at the southern side of the closure, in a northerly direction for 37 metres to enable gas main replacement works to be undertaken.
Throughout the period of the closure, any alternative diversion available to pedestrian traffic will be signposted on site. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The works are required from 8am on Tuesday 11/8/2026 and for the duration of the works anticipated to be 2 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
