What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, PARKING, SUSPENSION OF PARKING BAYS, STOPPING, WAITING, LOADING AND UNLOADING

(TT026-27-39) ORDER 2026

(NELSON STREET)

Notice is hereby given that Southend-on-Sea City Council has proposed to make the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding, stopping, waiting, loading, unloading in Nelson Street from the junction of Nelson Mews to the junction of Capel Terrace, including suspension of parking bays.

The closure is scheduled to commence from 8am until 4pm on the 31 July 2026 in Nelson Street or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The alternative route will be via Nelson Mews, Scratton Rd, Cambridge Rd, Capel The Order will come into effect from 8am until 4pm on the 31 July 2026; however, this Order may continue in force for a maximum of 18 months to allow for remedial work or delays.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst planned repairs are carried out on the Clifftown Studios building.

Access for emergency vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.

The prohibitions or restrictions will apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction/prohibition imposed by this Notice may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and removed under the provisions of the Traffic Management Act 2004.
