(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Went Way – for its full extent.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 30 July 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 30 July 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
To allow Eastbourne Borough Council to facilitate Airbourne 2026, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;
Temporary Road Closures
King Edwards Parade – from the junction with U2040 Silverdale Road to the junction with U2065 Lascelles Terrace.
Grand Parade – from the junction with U2145 Queens Gardens to the junction with U2065 Lascelles Terrace.
Marine Parade – from the junction with U2145 Queens Gardens to the junction with U2145 Marine Parade Road.
Wilmington Square (both sides) – from the junction with U2053 Compton Street to the junction with B2103 King Edwards Parade.
Ascot Close – for its entire length. A diversion route is not applicable.
Wartling Road – for its entire length. A diversion route is not applicable.
Devonshire Place – from the junction with U2053 Compton Street to the junction with B2106 Grand Parade.
Cavendish Place & Elms Avenue – from the junction with A259 Seaside Road to the junction with B2106 Grand Parade.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic eastbound via U2145 Marine Parade Road, Colonnade Gardens – A259 Seaside Road – U2146 Cavendish Place – U2144 Pevensey Road – U2135 Lismore Road – U2133 Bolton Road – A259 Memorial roundabout – B2106 Devonshire Place – U2136 Compton Street – U2053 Compton Street – U2040 Silverdale Road and westbound via U2040 Silverdale Road – U2053 Compton Street – B2106 Devonshire Place – A259 Memorial roundabout, Trinity Trees, Seaside Road – U2145 Marine Parade Road.
The Order commences 10 August 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated the event will take place between 10 and 18 August 2026 depending upon the weather conditions. Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2026 Amendment 1 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that East Sussex County Council has amended the above Experimental Traffic Order, originally made on 30 January 2026 and coming into force on 31 July 2026 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the proposed amendment is to modify the existing ETRO as follows:
to change the timings of prohibition and restriction of vehicular access, No Loading and Unloading from between 09:30am and 23:00pm to between 10:00am and 06:00 am.

Copies of the Order, plans showing the roads concerned and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order may also be examined at Reception, East Sussex County Council, County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes BN7 1UE Monday to Friday between 9am and 4 pm.
East Sussex County Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Experimental Order as amended should be continued in force indefinitely. Any person wishing to object to the making of an Order for such indefinite continuation may do so, giving the grounds for the objection, in writing, to MajorProjectsandGrowth@ eastsussex.gov.uk by 31 January 2027.
Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the enabling Act or that a requirement of the enabling Act or any of the relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within six weeks of the date of this notice, make application for that purpose to the High Court.
