What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
GRAVESHAM AREA
A226 Gravesend Road, Shorne (CYCLE LANE SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
Because of the replacement of street light columns, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily suspend the cycle lane on part of A226 Gravesend Road, Shorne, on or after 17th August 2026 for up to 3 nights between 19.00hrs and 05.00hrs or until the works have been completed.
Cycle Lane suspended Opposite ‘The Place’

Cycle Lanes suspended between opposite Little Trodgers and opposite Crown Cottage, at the junction of Forge Lane and Green Farm Lane

A227 Wrotham Road, Chapmans Hill & Heron Hill Lane, Meopham DA13 0QP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
Because of the Installation of new Low Voltage electricity cables, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A227 Wrotham Road, Chapmans Hill and Heron Hill Lane, Meopham on or after 3rd August 2026 for up to 1 night between 20.00hrs and 05.00hrs or until the works have been completed.
A227 Wrotham Road will be closed between South Street Farm and Hope Cottages.
Chapmans Hill will be closed between A227 Wrotham Road and The Lodge.
Heron Hill Lane will be closed between A227 Wrotham Road and Wilsons Way.
The alternative routes are:
A227 Wrotham Road - A227 Wrotham Road - B260 Longfield Road - B260 Main Road - B260 Green Street Green Road - Darenth Hill - Parsonage Road - A225 Main Road - A225 Dartford Road - A20 London Road - A20 Gorse Hill, A20 London Road, A227 Gravesend Road - A227 Wrotham Road and vice versa.
Chapmans Hill - Chapmans Hill - Rosemary Lane - Hodsoll Street - A227 Wrotham Road and vice versa.
Heron Hill Lane - There is no alternative route but access will be given when safe to do so.
A289 Wainscott Northern Bypass, Higham, ME2 3UG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
Because of National Highways Ltd works, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A289 Wainscott Northern Bypass, Higham, on or after 7th August 2026 for up to 1 night between 20.00hrs and 06.00hrs or until the works have been completed.
The M2 Coast Bound Slip section will be closed.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2 London bound, Brewers Road, A2 Coast bound and the M2.
Bowesden Lane, Shorne, DA12 3LA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
Because of a new gas connection, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Bowesden Lane, Shorne, on or after 17th August 2026 for up to 4 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside White Cottage.
There is no alternative route but access will be given when safe to do so.
Church Lane, Higham, DA12 2NL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
Because of Openreach works, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Church Lane, Higham, on or after 5th August 2026 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Eastcourt Oast.
The alternative route is via A226 Rochester Road, Castle Lane, Lower Higham Road and vice versa.
Dean Lane, Gravesend, DA13 0BS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
Because of overhead cabling works, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Dean Lane, Gravesend, on or after 3rd August 2026 for up to 5 days between 09.30hrs and 15.30hrs or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between Strawberry Hill and Chandlers Road.
The alternative route is via Dean Lane, Harvel Street, White Horse Lane, Leywood Road and vice versa.
Lower Higham Road, Gravesend, DA12 2NY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
Because of Southern Water Services works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Lower Higham Road, Gravesend, on or after 18th August 2026 for up to 4 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Filborough Farm.
The alternative route is via Lower Higham Road, Lower Road, Chalk Road, School Lane, Forge Lane, A226 Gravesend Road/Rochester Road and vice versa.
Pier Road, Northfleet, DA11 9NQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
Because of Southern Water Services works, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Pier Road, Northfleet, on or after 3rd August 2026 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside numbers 74 and 75.
The alternative route is via Cross Road, Burch Road, Lansdowne Square and vice versa.
Salisbury Road, Gravesend, DA11 7DF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & REVERSE ONE WAY) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
Because of Southern Water Services works, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Salisbury Road, Gravesend, on or after 5th August 2026 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the side of 65 Pelham Road South.
The alternative route is via Pelham Road South, B261 Old Road West, Cecil Road and vice versa.
Vale Road, Northfleet, DA11 9FE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
Because of Southern Water Services works, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Vale Road, Northfleet, on or after 3rd August 2026 for up to 12 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between numbers 1 and 33.
The alternative route is via Vale Road, A226 Thames Way, Rosherville Way, B261 Dover Road and vice versa.
