Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
B2248 St Stephens Road, Canterbury, CT2 7JD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2248 St Stephens Road, Canterbury from 18th August 2026 with estimated completion by 20th August 2026, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 63, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2248 St Stephens Road, Station Road West, A290 St Dunstans Street, Whitstable Road, Forty Acres Road, Beaconsfield Road, St Stephens Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Albert Street, Whitstable, CT5 1JJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow new connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Albert Street, Whitstable from 18th August 2026, with estimated completion by 24th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Albert Hall, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Albert Street, St Peter’s Road, Sydenham Street, Stream Walk and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Bogshole Lane & Pye Alley Lane, Whitstable. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bogshole Lane & Pye Alley Lane, Whitstable from 3rd August 2026, with estimated completion by 5th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The roads will be closed at their junction with A290 Pean Hill/ Clapham Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for Bogshole Lane is via Bogshole Lane, Golden Hill, A2990 Thanet Way, A290 Clapham Hill and vice versa.
The alternative route for Pye Alley Lane is via Pye Alley Lane, Fox’s Cross Road, A290 Pean Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
These works are in conjunction with two-way temporary lights on A290 Pean Hill.
Clarendon Street, Herne Bay, CT6 8LH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Clarendon Street, Herne Bay from 19:30 hours on 17th August 2026, with estimated completion by 05:30 hours on 18th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with B2205 Sea Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Clarendon Street, Claremont Street, B2205 Sea Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The One-Way Order on Clarendon Street will be suspended for the duration of the works.
Dorset Road, Canterbury, CT1 1RZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Dorset Road, Canterbury from 5th August 2026, with estimated completion by 14th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 11, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Dorset Road, Sussex Avenue, Hampshire Road, Spring Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Faversham Road, Seasalter, CT5 4AP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow the surface water separation project to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Faversham Road, Seasalter from 3rd August 2026, with estimated completion by 7th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any westbound traffic is via Faversham Road, Joy Lane, B2205 Borstal Hill, Clapham Hill, A299 Westbound on slip, A299 Thanet Way, Graveney off slip, Staple Street, Staple Street Road, Head Hill Road, Seasalter Road and Faversham Road.
The alternative route for any eastbound traffic is via Faversham Road, Seasalter Road, Head Hill Road, Whitstable Road, A299 Thanet Way on slip, A299 Thanet Way, A2990 Thanet Way slip way, A2990 (Old) Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill, Joy Lane and Faversham Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Grasmere Road, Chestfield, CT5 3NL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow investigation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grasmere Road, Chestfield from 17th August 2026 with estimated completion by 27th August 2026, between the hours of 09:00 and 15:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed opposite number 7, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
King Street, Canterbury, CT1 2DZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of King Street, Canterbury from 3rd August 2026, with estimated completion by 14th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 52, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route southbound is via King Street, Borough, Palace Street and Orange Street.
The alternative route northbound is via King Street, Orange Street, Palace Street, Borough, Northgate, St Radigunds Street and Knott’s Lane.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Mortimer Street & Bank Street, Herne Bay. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mortimer Street & Bank Street, Herne Bay from 17th August 2026, with estimated completion by 21st August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 48, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Mortimer Street, North Street, B2205 High Street, Bank Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The One-Way Order on Mortimer Street will be suspended between the junctions with Bank Street and North Street.
The One-Way Order on Bank Street will be suspended between the junctions with B2205 High Street and Mortimer Street.
Northgate, Canterbury, CT1 2EX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Northgate, Canterbury from 20:00 hours on 19th August 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 20th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Union Street and King Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic northeast bound is via Northgate, Broad Street, A28 Military Road, Tourtel Road, Northgate, New Ruttington Lane, Union Place and Union Street.
The alternative route for any through traffic southwest bound is via Northgate, B2248 Kingsmead Road, St Stephens Road, The Causeway, Pound Lane, St Radigunds Street, Knott’s Lane, King Street, Borough and Northgate.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Old Ruttington Lane, Canterbury, CT1 1NQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Old Ruttington Lane, Canterbury from 20:00 hours on 4th August 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 5th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with A28 Broad Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Old Ruttington Lane, A28 Military Road and Broad Street.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The One-Way Order on Old Ruttington Lane will be suspended for the duration of these works.
This closure is in conjunction with two-way lights on A28 Broad Street.
Park Lane, Bishopsbourne, CT4 5HS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Park Lane, Bishopsbourne from 17th August 2026, with estimated completion by 19th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Swalecliffe Road, Whitstable, CT5 2PT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow fire hydrant renewal works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Swalecliffe Road, Whitstable from 3rd August 2026, with estimated completion by 7th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 60, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any westbound through traffic is via Swalecliffe Road, Burnham Road, B2205 Herne Bay Road, St Swithins Road, Tankerton Road and Bennells Avenue.
The alternative route for any eastbound through traffic is via Swalecliffe Road, Bennells Avenue B2205 Tankerton Road, Herne Bay Road and Burnham Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The Street, Bishopsbourne, CT4 5HS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow water pipe replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on The Street, Bishopsbourne from 17th August 2026, with estimated completion by 19th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Street, Rose Lane, Bonny Bush Hill, Frog Lane, The Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Victoria Park, Herne Bay, CT6 5AS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Victoria Park, Herne Bay from 5th August 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between Warwick Lodge Dental Surgery and number 9, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for Victoria Park is via Cavendish Road, B2205 High Street, Canterbury Road and vice versa.
The alternative route for Fenoulhet Way is via Fenoulhet Way and then to follow the Victoria Road diversion.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Warwick Road, Canterbury, CT1 1RD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow cover and frame works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Warwick Road, Canterbury from 3rd August 2026, with estimated completion by 4th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 4, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Warwick Road, Kent Avenue, Sussex Avenue, Spring Lane, A257 St Martin’s Hill, A257 Littlebourne Road, Warwick Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Westgate Grove, Canterbury, CT2 8AB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow cycle lane and signage installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Westgate Grove, Canterbury from 19:00 hours on 18th August 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 19th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with A290 St Dunstans Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
