What is happening?

 THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

PART OF FLATGATE, HOWDEN

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any person from causing any vehicle to proceed/from proceeding along part of Flatgate, Howden from its junction with Hull Road eastbound for approximately 100 metres commencing 15 August 2026 at 08.00 hours until 23 August 2026 at 18.00 hours. The reason for the closure is to enable the proposed part of Flatgate, Howden safety whilst the two x LV joint bays are installed in the footway, together with 100 metres of track in the footway and 20 metres in the carriageway works are taking place on Hull Road under the traffic lights. Works are to be carried out and completed in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of the public. It is anticipated that the works will be completed within nine days.

The alternative route for traffic affected by the Order is via B1230 Hull Road, A614 Hull Road Roundabout, A614 Boothferry Road, A614 Howdendyke Roundabout, A63 Knedlington Road, A63 Boothferry Road, A63 Barnhill Lane, B1230 Selby Road, B1230 Northolmby Street and B1230 Bridgegate, Asselby CP, Howden CP, Howden Ward.

The road will be closed to all through traffic but access will be maintained for residents, emergency

vehicles and pedestrians. The Order will commence 15 August 2026 and continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
