HIGHWAYS ACT 1980, SECTION 119
(WHEATHAMPSTEAD FOOTPATH 42)
DIVERSION ORDER 2026
The above Order made on 16 July 2026, under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 will divert the public Wheathampstead 42 running from TL 1909 1586 continuing northeast along driveway for approximately 6 metres and then southeast for approximately 42 metres to a junction with Bride Hall Lane (Public Road) at TL 1913 1584 as shown on the Order Plan.

Any representation about or objections to the Order may be sent in writing to Alex Swanston, Definitive Map Officer, Countryside and Rights of Way Service, CHN103, Growth and Environment Department, Hertfordshire County Council, Farnham House, Six Hills Way, Stevenage, Hertfordshire SG1 2ST. Email: row@hertfordshire.gov.uk (ref: STA184) not later than 3 September 2026. Please state the grounds on which they are made.
If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Hertfordshire County Council may confirm the order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment for confirmation any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE FOOTPATH SITUATED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF NOS.18-24 RIPON WAY, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath situated on the south side of Nos.18-24 Ripon Way, St Albans from a point in line with the western boundary of No.22 Ripon Way south eastwards for a distance of approximately 48m (“the Footpath”).
An alternative route will be via the footpath situated on the south side of Nos.18-24 Ripon Way, the footway situated on the east and south east sides of Cheriton Close, the footway situated on the north side of Villiers Crescent, the footway situated on the west side of Stanton Close and the footpath situated on the east side of No.4 and No.5 Stanton Close.
The Order is needed because duct laying works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpath.
The Order will come into effect from 11 August 2026 and will be valid for a period of 6 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Footpath.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN ST ALBANS) ORDER NO.4 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access:-
1. that length of A5183 Holywell Hill, St Albans from its junction with A1081 London Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 15m.
An alternative route will be via A1081 London Road, A414 North Orbital Road and A5183 (Watling Street/St Stephens Hill/Holywell Hill).
2. that length of A1081 Chequer Street, St Albans from its junction with A5183 High Street north eastwards for a distance of approximately 15m.
An alternative route will be via A5183 (High Street/Verulam Road/Folly Lane), A4147 (Folly Lane/St Catherine Street) and A1081 (St Peters Street/Chequer Street).
3. that length of A1081 London Road, St Albans from its junction with A1081 Chequer Street south eastwards for a distance of approximately 15m.
An alternative route will be via A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), A1057 (Hatfield Road/St Albans Road West), A1001 Comet Way, A414 North Orbital Road and A1081 London Road.
4. that length of A5183 High Street, St Albans from its junction with A1081 Chequer Street north westwards for a distance of approximately 15m.
An alternative route will be via A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane) and A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road/High Street).
The Order is needed because excavation works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order will come into effect from 13 August 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of New Road, Radlett from its junction with Battlers Green Drive south eastwards for a distance of approximately 32m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via New Road, B462 Watford Road, Park Road, A5183 Watling Street, Aldenham Avenue, Loom Lane and New Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-
1. that length of B556 Harper Lane, Shenley from its junction with the B5378 Shenley Lane/B556 Bell Lane roundabout south westwards to its junction with A5183 Watling Street, a distance of approximately 2587m.
An alternative route will be via B556 Bell Lane, A1081 (Bell Link Overbridge/London Colney Bypass), A414 North Orbital Road and A5183 (Watling Street/Park Street/Frogmore/Radlett Road/Watling Street).
2. that length of Lye Lane, Bricket Wood from its junction with Station Road south westwards and north westwards to its junction with West Riding, a distance of approximately 432m.
An alternative route will be via Station Road, Mount Pleasant Lane and West Riding.
3. that length of Sandringham Crescent, St Albans from its junction with Chiltern Road north eastwards, south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with House Lane, a distance of approximately 1168m.
An alternative route will be via Chiltern Road, The Ridgeway, Sherwood Avenue, Marshalswick Lane, Sandpit Lane and House Lane.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order will come into effect from 10 August 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 4 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON VARIOUS ROADS IN ST ALBANS) ORDER NO.2 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:-
1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from being driven at a speed exceeding 50mph and 30mph on the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), when signs are in place:-
a) the A414 Watling Street roundabout, St Albans from its junction with A405 North Orbital Road clockwise for its entire length.
b) that length of A405 North Orbital Road, St Albans from its junction with the Tippendell Lane roundabout north eastwards to its junction with the A414 Watling Street roundabout, a distance of approximately 200m.
c) that length of A414 North Orbital Road, St Albans from its junction with the A414 Watling Street roundabout south eastwards, north eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with the A414 London Colney roundabout, a distance of approximately 3000m.
d) that length of A5183 Watling Street, St Albans from its junction with the A414 Watling Street roundabout north westwards for a distance of approximately 350m.
e) that length of A5183 Watling Street, St Albans from its junction with the A414 Watling Street roundabout south westwards for a distance of approximately 150m.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order will come into effect from 9 August 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 18 months to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using Aldenham Public Footpath No.057 from its junction with Loom Lane north eastwards to its junction with Aldenham Public Footpath No.047, a distance of approximately 296m (“the Public Footpath”).
An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north east side of Loom Lane, the footway situated on the west side of Aldenham Avenue and Aldenham Avenue Public Footpath No.047.

1. that length of Aldenham Road, Letchmore Heath from a point 345m north west of its junction with Butterfly Lane south eastwards for a distance of approximately 545m.
2. that length of Butterfly Lane, Elstree from its junction with A5183 Watling Street south westwards to its junction with Aldenham Road, a distance of approximately 1073m.
The Order is needed because high voltage cable maintenance is proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order will come into effect from 29 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 8 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.
