Cambridgeshire - Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Highway Works

What is happening?

CAMBRIDGESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

NOTICE is given that Cambridgeshire County Council intends after 7 days, to make an Order pursuant to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which:

Lodge Road, Thriplow Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic – Order 2026-20736
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Lodge Road, Thriplow as lies between Thriplow Farm & No. 5.
The alternative route for vehicles is via: Lower St, Thriplow; Fowlmere Road; Lodge Road & vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telegraph pole replacement & associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway & it will come into operation on 13/8/26 & continue until these works have finished or on the 12/2/28 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 13/8 & 14/8/26.

Heydon Lane, Heydon Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic – Order 2026-20757
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Heydon Lane, Heydon as lies between Lane Farm & Essex Border.
The alternative route for vehicles is via: Fowlmere Road, Heydon; Heydon Road, Fowlmere; Newmarket Road; Chrishall Road; Chrishall Grange Road; Chrishall Grange Road, Heydon; Chrishall Grange Road, Chrishall; Hertford Lane; Mill Causeway & vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telegraph pole replacement & associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway. It is anticipated that these works will take place between 12/8 & 13/8/26, when the restriction is expected to be in operation. The Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months from the date it comes into effect to permit the works & any associated contingencies including delays or phased delivery of the works.

New Road, Melbourn Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic – Order 2026-20837
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along New Road, Melbourn as lies between Victoria Way & Rosemary Place.
The alternative route for vehicles is via: New Road; A505; A10; Royston Road; High Street; Mortlock Street & vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate junction improvement & associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway. It is anticipated that these works will take place between 1/8 & 1/9/26, when the restriction is expected to be in operation. The Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months from the date it comes into effect to permit the works & any associated contingencies including delays or phased delivery of the works.

High Street, Meldreth Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic – Order 2026-20874
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along High Street, Meldreth as lies between Fenny Lane & Whitecroft Road.
The alternative route for vehicles is via: Fenny Lane; Whitecroft Road C270; Whitecroft Road & vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate gully cleaning & associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway. It is anticipated that these works will take place between 14/8 & 15/8/26, when the restriction is expected to be in operation. The Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months from the date it comes into effect to permit the works & any associated contingencies including delays or phased delivery of the works.

Access will be maintained to properties affected by these orders. The above orders shall not apply to any persons lawfully engaged in connection with any works for which these are made, any member of the Police Force, Fire & Rescue Service, Ambulance Service, a vehicle being used by Special Forces during the execution of their duties or to any person acting with the permission or upon the direction of a Police Officer in uniform.
