CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE

(NOVUM FESTIVAL - DOMINOES SHOW) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

1.NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicular traffic to proceed on;

2. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all vehicles to proceed on the following lengths of road -

PART I
Highways to be closed between 3-5 minutes between 16:00 - 18:00 on Sunday 9 August 2026;
1. St James Blvd between its junction with Wellington Street and Bath Lane.
2. Clayton Street between its junction with Westgate Road and Newgate Street.
3. Market Street between its junction with Grainger Street and Pilgrim Street.
4. Pilgrim Street, between its junction with Market Street and New Bridge Street West.
5. New Bridge Street West, between its junction with Pilgrim Street and John Dobson Street.

PART II
Highways to be closed between 16:00 - 17:00 on Sunday 9 August 2026;
1. Stowell Street for its entire length.
2. Frair Street, between its junction with Blackfriars Crescent and Charlotte Square.
3. Fenkle Street, between its junction with Clayton Street and Low Friar Lane.
4. Falconars Court for its entire length.
5. St John Street, between its junction with Black Rose Cresent and Grainger Street.

PART III
Highways to be closed between 15:00 - 17:00 on Sunday 9 August 2026;
1. Charlotte Square for its entire length.
2. Cross Street for its entire length.
3. Fenkle Street, between its junction with Low Friar Lane and Cross Street.
4. Bigg Market, between its junction with Grainger Street and High Bridge Street.

PART IV
Highways to be closed between 12:00 - 18:00 on Sunday 9 August 2026
1. Bath Lane / Wellingotn Street, Between its junction with St James' Blvd and Robson Way.
2. Fenkle Street between its junction with Falconars Court and Clayton Street.
3. St John Street, between its junction with Pudding Chare and Black Rose Cresent
4. Pudding Chare, between its junction with Bigg Market and St John Street.
5. High Bridge Street, between its junction with Grey Street and Bigg Market.
6. Shakesphere Street, between its junction with Grey Street and Pilgrim Street.
7. Grey Street, between its junction Market Street and Mosley Street.
3. The alternative route for vehicles will be via the existing highway network.
4. The Order is required to facilitate the "Novum Festival - Dominoes Show" ("the Event"), to enable members of the public to watch the Event and to reduce the disruption to traffic likely to be caused by the Event. The Order is required to allow the Event to be carried out safely on or near the highway and to ensure the health and safety of the general public.
5. Exemptions will be provided for police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call and vehicles associated with the event.
6. The Order will come into operation on 9 August 2026 and will continue for a period 1 day, from 12:00 - 18:00 as and when relevant traffic signs are displayed.
