(ASPLEY GUISE: FOOTPATH NO. 20, WOBURN: FOOTPATH NO. 11, AND HUSBORNE CRAWLEY: PART OF FOOTPATH NO. 3)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that Central Bedfordshire Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot along the lengths of:
I. Footpath No. 20, Aspley Guise which extends from its junction with Footpath No. 19, Aspley Guise at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) SP 9515 3536 in a generally south-easterly direction for approximately 391 metres to its junction with Footpath No. 11, Woburn at OS GR SP 9538 3504.
II. Footpath No. 11, Woburn which extends from its junction with Footpath No. 20, Aspley Guise at OS GR SP 9538 3504 in a generally southerly direction for approximately 557 metres to its junction with Crawley Road at OS GR SP 9530 3455.
III. Footpath No. 3, Husborne Crawley which extends from its junction with Footpath No. 8, Husborne Crawley, Footpath No. 15, Husborne Crawley, and Horsepool Lane at OS GR SP 9522 3546 in an east-south-easterly direction for approximately 394 metres to its junction with Footpath No. 2, Husborne Crawley and Footpath No. 3, Husborne Crawley at OS GR SP 9557 3527.
These temporary closures are required to facilitate safe works and delivery access, isolated working space & public segregation for river restoration works being carried out on the Broughton Brook. The closures are expected to take place from 10 August 2026 until 31 October 2026 but could be closed for up to six months.
The alternative route for footpath users while the closures are in operation extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) SP 9522 3546 in a generally northeasterly direction for approximately 291 metres along Footpath No. 8, Husborne Crawley to its junction with Footpath No. 4, Husborne Crawley at OS GR SP 9541 3568 then continues in a generally north-easterly direction for approximately 209 metres along Footpath No. 8, Husborne Crawley to its junction with Footpath No. 5, Husborne Crawley at OS GR SP 9555 3580 then continues in a south-easterly direction for approximately 171 metres along Footpath No. 5, Husborne Crawley to OS GR SP 9569 3570 then continues in a southerly direction for approximately 80 metres along Footpath No. 5, Husborne Crawley to its junction with Footpath No. 2, Husborne Crawley at OS GR SP 9566 3562 then continues in a generally southerly direction for approximately 362 metres along Footpath No. 2, Husborne Crawley to its junction with Footpath No. 3, Husborne Crawley at OS GR SP 9557 3527 then continues in a generally southerly direction for approximately 423 metres along Footpath No. 2, Husborne Crawley to its junction with Turnpike Road at OS GR SP 9552 3486.
Further details, including a map, can also be found on the Council’s website at: https://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/info/82/countryside/431/rights_of_way/2 This proposed Order will come into operation on 10 August 2026 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which are proposed to be carried out on or near to the footpaths have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.
